Risk Management COVID-19 Christian Procedure Steps

1. COVID 19 Body Release from Hospital to Mortuary

 Released from Hospital to Hospital Mortuary in a sealed plastic body bag.  The deceased body within the sealed body bag eliminates the risk of any further transmission of COVID 19 to those handling the deceased body.

2. COVID 19 Body Handling Within Hospital Mortuary

 As body is within sealed bag, Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) is required only to minimise risk of transmission between the body handlers from person to person, rather than from deceased body.  The PPE is therefore limited to Gloves and Basic Face Mask/Visor (Non- Respiratory) only.  Place the deceased contained within the pre-sealed body bag into .  Seal the coffin.

3. Place Coffin Within the Hearse Direct to

 Disinfect and sanitise the coffin externals with bleach or equivalent sanitiser. Place the coffin within the funeral hearse.  No family members will be present at this point - but those mourners who are allowed to attend will meet the Funeral Hearse at the graveside in the cemetery.  Body Handlers Must Be Asymptomatic (No COVID 19 Symptoms)  Main Risk Is Body Handlers Transmission To Each Other, Practice Social Distancing Rules. Wear Gloves, Face Mask and Wash Hands.  Proceed directly to the Cemetery.

4. Body Reception at Cemetery & Burial

 Funeral: mourners limited to immediate family members - that is, spouse or partner, parents and children who are asymptomatic, not showing any signs of COVID 19 or been in contact with anyone with COVID 19. It is permissible for the service to be live-streamed by phone or suitable technology to other people who want to witness it. The only other people present will be Body Handling Personnel, who will not be members of the family.  To prevent COVID 19 transmission between body handlers PPE will be restricted to gloves and basic face masks.  Ensure all social distancing protocols and hand washing are always maintained as best possible.  Body Handling Personnel to place the coffin in the burial site at the signal of the Christian minister, who will then lead the service. No member of the family to be involved in the placing of the coffin in the .  Complete the burial as soon as possible. Perform normal Christian with prescribed mourners present: spouse or partner, parents, children - each standing 2 metres apart, and each not showing signs of Covid-19 or in contact with anyone with Covid-19
