The efforts put in by the organization have been quite instrumental in sensitizing stakeholder groups to the agenda of eliminating child labour and protecting children’s rights. Their participation in the campaign has consequentially grown by leaps and bounds and a social norm has been established in most villages of the project area as to the non-negotiable right of the child to education. The ongoing struggle of MVF and other likeminded groups/NGOs to bring pressure on the state to make education a fundamental right bore fruit with the passage of the Right to Education Act in late 2009. It is against this background that the organization undertook to focus specifically on building the capacities of CBOs and local institutions to streamline the implementation of the Act at the ground level in Dharur and Marpally mandals of Ranga Reddy district and Arvapally and Penpahad mandals of Nalgonda district. Social Mobilization An intensive drive was taken up against child marriage in Gram Panchayats across the project area during April and May in 2010.
