Frank Ticheli (b. 1958) Blue Shades Daniel Treuman joined the faculty at Collins Hill as the Assistant

Director of Bandsof Director Director of Bands 2010. He took over as the Director of Bands in 2011. Mr. Treuman has served the band program as the primary conductor of all four concert ensembles, as well as the Director of the Basketball Band and Screamin' Eagle Marching Band. Concert and marching ensembles under his direction have DANIEL S. TREUMAN consistently received superior ratings at competitions and festivals.

Although he is only beginning year four in his tenure as Director of Bands, Mr. Treuman has shared a long association with the bands at Collins Hill. He served as a marching band sta member from 2006 to 2009, and prior to that was a student at Collins Hill. Mr. Treuman has been a Teacher of the Year nominee each of the past three years, including being named one of three nalists in 2013.

Mr. Treuman received his Bachelors of Music degree from e University of Georgia. While at UGA, he studied euphonium with Professor David Zerkel and performed as a member of the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble and Redcoat Marching Band. His conducting teachers included John Lynch, Gregg Gausline, and Mike Robinson.

Mr. Treuman marched euphonium as a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps during the 2007-2009 seasons. Highlights of his tenure with the corps include being selected as a nalist for the Mark Glasscoe Member of the Year Award in 2009 and placing rst at the Drum Corps International World Championships in 2008. Mr. Treuman spent 2010 as a member of the Phantom Regiment Tour Sta and 2011 as a member of the Phantom Regiment Brass Sta . He is currently in his second season as a member of e Cavalier's Brass Sta .

Mr. Treuman's professional aliations include the NAFME, GMEA, and NBA. He also serves as the GMEA District 13 Band Chair. Mr. Treuman currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Kathryn and his dog Eleanor. Assistant Director Bands of Assistant

CHARLES A. ARNOLD A. CHARLES

huck Arnold is in his third year at Collins Hill High School where he conductsC the Symphonic Band and two Jazz ensembles while also assisting in all phases of the band program.

Upon graduation from Edna High School (TX) in 1988, Chuck enlisted in the as a eet musician and spent the next ten years touring nearly sixty countries and territories with Navy Band San Diego, the United States Seventh Fleet Band in Yokosuka, , the United States Sixth Fleet Band in Naples, Italy, and Navy Band New Orleans. During this time he also completed two levels of training at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA.

Upon his discharge from the Navy, Chuck became an active freelance musician in New Orleans. e highlight of this fteen-year stretch was a 2001 tour with Maynard Ferguson and Big Bop Nouveau. Other notable sideman appearances include: Ray Charles, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, e O’Jays, Lou Rawls, and the critically acclaimed John Mahoney Big Band.

Since relocating to Georgia in 2009, Chuck has maintained an active performing and teaching schedule. He is a regular member of the Atlanta Lyric Orchestra and appeared as a soloist on Steve Dancz compositions Declaration Anthem, written for the 2011 Super Bowl XLV broadcast, and Heart of Independence, written for the 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII broadcast.

Chuck received a Bachelor of Music Education from Loyola University, New Orleans, and a Mas- ters in Music Education and Education Specialist from the University of Georgia.

He currently lives in Lilburn, GA with his wife, Joanna, and their four “children” Willis, Maisey, Preston, and Lizzy.

DAVID ZERKEL Soloist

avid Zerkel is Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University ofD Georgia, leading an active career as both a performer and educator. Before his arrival at UGA, he taught in a similar position at Illinois State University. His students have distinguished themselves by winning international and national competitions and attaining positions with professional performing organizations.

David has performed with many orchestras, to include the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. He is a member of the Brass Band of Battle Creek, was a founding member of the Washington Symphonic Brass and has performed with the Burning River Brass. He began his performing career as a member of the Field Band and e , both located in Washington, D.C.

David has performed as a featured soloist at many workshops and symposia, including the Leon- ard Falcone Festival, several International Tuba Euphonium Conferences, and the United States Army Band Tuba Conference. In addition, he has performed as a solo recitalist at many of the leading colleges and conservatories in the United States. His rst solo CD, American Music for Tuba: Something Old, Something New, was selected as the recipient of the inaugural ITEA Roger Bobo Award for Excellence in Recording at the 2006 ITEC in Denver, Colorado. His subsequent CD, Tuba Helper, was a Bobo nalist in 2008.

David’s students have enjoyed numerous musical and professional successes. Currently, each premiere military band in Washington DC has an alumni of the UGA Tuba Euphonium Studio among its’ ranks. He has had multiple winners in the Leonard Falcone Competition, the solo competition of the International Tuba Euphonium Conference, and the national Music Teachers National Association solo competition. Alumni from the studio have performed with the Cleve- land Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. Many others are leading successful teaching careers at the secondary and post-secondary level.

At the peak of enrollment in 2003, Collins Hill served 4200 students and was the largest school in the state of Georgia. e school currently serves a diverse

OurSchool population of 3100 students from the cities of Suwanee and Lawrenceville, standing as a pillar of academic, athletic, and artistic achievement in our community. Collins Hill features a robust academic program, with its students scoring higher than the county, state, and national averages on the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. Collins Hill boasts an impressive 47 state championships highlighted by strong eorts from Wrestling, Cross Country, and Softball. h e instrumental music program at Collins Hill High School currently serves some 240 Tstudents through four Concert Ensembles (Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Silver and Green Band), three Percussion Ensembles, the Screamin’ Eagle Marching Band, Basketball Pep-Band, two Jazz Bands, Indoor Drumline, and Winter Guard. e vast majority of students in the program are products of the Creekland Middle School Band, under the direction of Jacob Sevier and Caitlin Delinsky. rough the ideals of Dedication, Performance, and Tradition, the Collins Hill Bands strive to provide life changing educational experiences through pageantry and music.

e most visible part of the band program, the Collins Hill Screamin’ Eagle Marching Band, is recognized as one of the outstanding performing organizations in the state and region. e band is a 10 time Bands of America Regional Finalist (Atlanta, Johnson City, St. Petersburg, Murray State, St. Louis) as well as a Bands of America Grand National Semi-Finalist. e band has performed throughout the United States, including performances in Atlanta, New Orleans, Orlando, New York, Philadelphia, and Honolulu, along with an international appearance in London. In 2004 the Screamin’ Eagle Marching Band was awarded the Sudler Shield, the highest honor a high school marching band can receive.

Not to be outdone, the winter programs of the Collins Hill Band have also performed and been recognized for outstanding achievement at both the local and national level. e Collins Hill winter guard is a two-time Winter Guard International nalist, once each in A Class and Open Class. e Collins Hill Indoor Drumline has also been recognized as a Winter Guard International Open Class Finalist.

Concert ensembles from Collins Hill have consistently received superior ratings at festival and Large Group Performance Evaluation. e premier ensemble at Collins Hill, the Symphonic Winds, has received superior ratings every year of its twenty-year existence. e Symphonic Winds have been featured performers at many local and regional events including the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in Savannah, the Kennesaw State University Concert Band Invita- tional, as a Georgia Band of Distinction at Georgia State University, and twice previously on this stage as a part of the University of Georgia January High School Music Festival.

Members of the Collins Hill Bands are consistently selected to perform in honor bands across the state. Whether in the District 13 Honor Band, GMEA All-State Band, GMEA All-State Jazz Band, Metro Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble, Gwinnett County Youth Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, or the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Collins Hill is always well represented. e students in our band program not only excel musically, but also academically and as student leaders. In Collins Hill’s 20-year history, nearly half of the Valedictorians, Salutatorians, and STAR Students have been participants in the band program.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our band parents and band boosters. ere are few, if any, parent organizations on campus that are more active than our band boosters. You should be commended, as none of this would be possible without the time, support, and love that you provide to these students.
