But Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. These aren't the fairies of the bedtime stories-they're dangerous! *This is the first book in a series. They are all terrific!     What Series Do We Have? These are the series that we have in the Middle School Lounge. This list also identifies which books are in the Elizabeth Library and Griffith Library to make it easier to send students. Here is how that information is displayed on the boxes for the books (link). ​ ​ Right now, the series in the MS Lounge are mainly Mystery, Horror, and Fantasy. What Should We Buy? Often, we have one or more books but not the whole series. I have made this list to help figure out (when it’s that time of year for purchasing novels) which ones we might want to order / find at a bookstore to complete a given series and get the most bang for our buck. What Should We Buy in the Future? We haven’t started to tackle the Realistic Fiction, Historical Fiction, Non-Fiction, or Graphic Novel series in the same way. That would be a good next step for the future. What Do You Need to Know? 1. His newest titles include Born to Rock, a new young adult title from Hyperion (published Spring, 2006) and Kidnapped, an adventure series published this summer According to his official bio, Gordon Korman was born October 23, 1963 in Montreal, Quebec in Canada. He wrote his first book, This Can't be Happening at Macdonald Hall when he was 12 years old for a coach who suddenly found himself teaching 7th grade English. He later took that episode and created a book out of it, called the Sixth Grade Nickname Game. Mr. Huge, a character in the book, was based on that 7th grade teacher. His first book was published with Scholastic. The company then published his next 20 books. Hyperion and Scholastic both publish Korman’s books. Gordon divides his time between Toronto, New York and Florida, and is currently under contract for several more books, the six-volume On the Run adventure series, and new young adult and children’s titles. Korman will talk to Glencoe West School students about characterization, how he goes about finding topics to write about, and other tricks of his writer’s life.
