Slow track speeds, CP congestion at rail yards, manual operations causing stopping and blockages, and limited ¤£61 rerouting opportunities are causing delay and

BNSF conflicting movements. This translates to Pigs Eye Lake ¤£52 materials and goods taking longer to reach UP customers, and loss of time and money for UP manufacturers and shippers. Ramsey County and project partners are recommending a system of improvements to: » Reduce train delay » Supply efficient routing §¨494 » Provide flexibility to handle existing freight and passenger trains I » Maintain capacity for growth. 0 0.5 1 2 Miles See what is proposed DID YOU KNOW?

- Eliminates need for trains to stop

- Increases capacity and provide more direct routes

– Provides – more options for train movements Improves train routing

- Allows more efficient switching of tracks for longer trains

– Provides direct connection and reduces - Frees up space for additional risk of track flooding tracks to increase capacity and speed

– Decreases delay and congestion; allows for future passenger rail service

– Improves efficiency and eliminates need for – Provides trains to stop more direct route

– Frees up space so one train doesn’t block other trains

NOTE: Examining solutions to stabilize bluff to limit potential damage to tracks

WHAT IS NEXT?

Ramsey County will continue to work with partners to secure funding for these improvements. Once funding is received, environmental documentation and final engineering will be completed to meet all requirements for construction.
