Queensland Branch Tennis Centre meeting a hit
It was terrific to see such an enthusiastic audience with a wide cross section for radiographers, radiation therapists, gradu- ates and students. The Queensland Tennis Centre meeting attracted a good crowd
The June meeting of the Qld Branch was held at the Queensland The Research Institute Auditorium Tennis Centre. About 80 members and guests filled the function room which overlooked the centre court of the Pat Rafter Arena. Level 8 East Wing Our guest speaker for the evening was Mark Brown, Executive Officer of Sports Medicine Australia (Qld Branch). Mark is an - In car park - take the elevator to level P7 APA sport physiotherapist, Fellow of the Australian Sports - Cross walkway link to main hospital - level2 medicine Federation and Assistant Professor of Physiotherapy, - Pass Radiology faculty of Heath Sciences and Medicine, Bond University. - Pass the Emergency Centre His presentation included a brief history of medical support - Continue towards the Pre-admissions area at Olympic Games and his experience as a volunteer sports - Take the next passageway to Right then Left into east wing physiotherapist at previous Olympic Games and in particular, at - Take the elevator to Level 8 the recent Winter Olympics held in Vancouver earlier this year. Mark highlighted some of the operational aspects of attend- ing the games in that role and also outlined some of the particu- lar injuries and the mechanism of injury that challenge athletes performing extreme manoeuvres. His case studies included relevant imaging and made for a thoroughly absorbing presenta- tion, which was well received by all in attendance. The evening concluded with a delicious supper and a short business meeting.
