Starting from GRSJ 199 519 on the A5104 we ascend SE through Forest and then SW to Watkins Tower and Cyrn-y-Brain. Descend SE to Glen , NE to Worlds End. After climbing up the gorge, the Eglwyseg scarp cliff path is followed S to Trevor Rocks. Over Castell Dinas Bran, N to Vale Cruise Abbey & over Velvet Mountain returning along the cancel to Llangollen. Distance: 27kms (16mls); Ascent: 950m (3,050ft); Walk Points: 22 B Plus Walk Points range 14-18

From Llangollen (small charge for toilets in car park) we head N to Castell Dinas Bran and make our way over the escarpment which we follow NW and N to Craig-yr-Adar. Descend S to follow Offas Dyke Pathway until Llwyn Hen- parc where we cross the road and join the Clwydian Way back to Llangollen. Distance: 20kms (12.5mls); Ascent: 686m (2,250ft); Walk Points: 17 B Minus Walk Points range 11-14

From Llangollen SW up the steep rocky Allty-y-Badi track to the Ceiriog Trail. W towards the grouse moors onto a narrow trail across heather. W past Y Foel. Join the North Berwyn Way and head N, NNE for a couple of miles. Near Cae Madoc Wood, N towards Barber’s Hill to take the old hangman’s trail on south side of hill. Country lanes and trails NW towards Berwyn Station and the Chain Bridge, before heading back to Llangollen. Distance: 16.4kms (10.2mls); Ascent: 624m (2,050ft); Walk Points: 14 C Walk Points range 7-11

From Llangollen the route follows the canal to (toilets) where we join a footpath pasing Llidiart Annie and Pen-y-Bryn to the Britannia Inn. Crossing the A542 and the Eglwyseg River, we turn S at Tan-y-Fron to follow a long woodland bridleway to p[ass Dinas Bran on our way back to the coach. Distance: 12kms (7.5mls); Ascent: 335m (1100ft); Walk Points: 10 D Walk Points range 5-7

We follow the Llangollen History Trail, omitting the steep climb to Castell Dinas Bran. The canal towpath takes us to Horseshoe Falls & Llantisilio Church. Turning E we cross the lower slopes of Velvet Hill (Coed Hyrddyn) to , followed by a climb up a long flight of steps to a level path N to Abbey Cottage. En route, good views across to Eliseg’s Pillar. Finally, SE along the Clwydian Way to Bryn-hyfryd, along the lane back to Llangollen.
