The primary purpose of this special designation was to identify sensitive and valu­ able aquatic resources that require special management. The ACEC contains important chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) production habitats that could be impacted by land-use activi­ ties. This aquatic Habitat Management Plan (HMP) describes actions to establish baseline data, sets objectives, and establishes management guidelines for the maintenance and protec­ tion of chum salmon production habitat.
