Situation The property is in a quiet location about a mile from the village of Marshwood which has a garage in the centre and a church, primary school and public house on the outskirts. There is also a weekly mobile Post Office. The towns of Axminster, and Bridport are easily accessible. Bridport is a bustling market town with a history of rope making and is now a gateway to the Jurassic World Heritage coastline at nearby West Bay. It also has a variety of independent shops, supermarkets, public houses and restaurants catering for a range of tastes. There are excellent arts and music events and the famous “hat festival”. Bridport is conveniently placed for Dorchester and Weymouth to the east and Axminster and Honiton to the west. Communication links are good with road links along the A35 and mainline railway stations at Axminster, Crewkerne, Maiden Newton and Dorchester.

Directions From Bridport take the B3162 towards Broadwindsor. Approximately a mile from Bridport take a left turn at Dottery signposted Broadoak. Follow this road through Broadoak, past the Shave Cross Inn and up Mutton Street towards Marshwood. The cottage can be found on the left-hand side approximately half a mile from the junction which leads to Bettiscombe.

Outside The gardens are a particular feature of the property and are enclosed by a mixture of hedge and fencing and are, for the most part, laid to lawn. There is a variety of herbaceous and shrub plantings and an attractive wildlife pond. To the back of the cottage is a substantial area of driveway laid to stone chippings which provides parking and turning for a number of cars.
