The genus Odontosia Hübner is characterized by the elongate and serrate margin of its forewing and the prominent harpe of valva and many spinular cornuti on the vesica of the male genitalia and the robust ductus bursae and large, ovate and sclerotized corpus bursae of the female genitalia. Only one species of Odontosia, O. patricia Stichel, 1918, has been reported from Korea. In this paper, Odontosia sieversii (Ménétriès, 1856) is newly added to the Korean fauna based on three male specimens collected at Mt. Bangtaesan, Gangwon-do, Korea. Diagnosis for the species and photographs of adult and genitalia of the genus Odontosia are provided. Keywords: Odontosia, Odontosia patricia, Odontosia sieversii, Notodontidae, Korea, new record INTRODUCTION genitalia and the robust ductus bursae and the large, ovate and sclerotized corpus bursae of the female genitalia (Schin- Moths of Notodontidae are medium to large-sized moths, tlmeister, 2008). Introduction Harper’s Island Wetlands (HIW) nature reserve, situated close to the village of Glounthaune on the north shore of Cork Harbour is well known for its birds, many of which come from all over northern Europe and beyond, but there is a lot more to the wildlife at the HWI nature reserve than birds. One of our goals it to find out as much as we can about all aspects of life, both plant and animal, that live or visit HIW. This is a report on the butterflies and moths of HIW. Butterflies After birds, butterflies are probably the one of the best known flying creatures. While there has been no structured study of them on at HIW, 17 of Ireland’s 33 resident and regular migrant species of Irish butterflies have been recorded. Just this summer we added the Comma butterfly to the island list. A species spreading across Ireland in recent years possibly in response to climate change. Hopefully we can set up regular monitoring of the butterflies at HIW in the next couple of years. Butterfly Species Recorded at Harper’s Island Wetlands up to September 2020. Among Lepidoptera collected in five main forest types in the Wigry National Park, there were found species which represent boreal faunal elements associated with coniferous woodland dominated with spruce. These species usually have transpalearctic distribution ranges with their western limits in NE Poland. Some of them show also boreomontane pattern of the distribution. Six the most prominent species are discussed here: Catoptria permiacus (w. PEt.), Laothoe amurensis (stdgr.), Pygaera timon (HBn.), Odontosia sieversii (Mén.), Calliteara abietis (dEn. & scHiff.) and Apamea rubrirena (trEit.). KEY WORDS: forest habitats, boreal faunal elements, Lepidoptera, Catoptria permiacus, Laothoe amurensis, Pygaera timon, Odontosia sieversii, Calliteara abietis, Apamea rubrirena, Wigry National Park.

The German Association of Engineers (VDI) has developed guidelines for the standardized monitoring of Lepidoptera describing the use of light traps for adult moths, transect counts for adult butterflies, and visual search for larvae. The guidelines suggest recording adults of Crambid Snout Moths during transect counts in addition to butterflies, and present detailed protocols for the visual search of larvae.

Egg and pupa of Lobeza dentilinea Schaus, 1901 are described and illustrated for the first time. Eggs are smooth, dome-shaped, and greenish at oviposition. Last instar larvae have an aposematic coloration and the chaetotaxy is very similar to other notodontines, except for the number of lateral setae: L. dentilinea has three instead of four lateral setae on abdominal segments A3-A6. Pupae are light brown and typical of the family, with the last abdominal segments broadly round. Evidence from the adult morphology supporting the placement of the genus in Notodontinae includes proboscis smaller than the length of the head, epiphysis with more than half the length of tibia, tarsal claws simple, and labial palpi short. Male and female are confidently associated, and a redescription of the species is presented based on both sexes. Larvae of L. dentilinea are here recorded feeding on a Melastomataceae. KEY WORDS. Cteniophore; genitalia; larva; Neotropical region; pupa. Notodontidae comprises approximately 3,000 species and dentilinea Schaus, 1901, and GODFREY et al.
