No formal assessment of the groups’ perceived background was conducted. WA 404 Friday 29 July 2011 Written Answers Social Investment Fund Mr Easton asked the First Minister and deputy First Minister how funding under the Social Investment Fund will be delivered to local communities; and when the allocation of this funding will begin. (AQW 139/11-15) Mr P Robinson and Mr M McGuinness: Our officials are currently engaged in discussions both with officials from other government departments and key stakeholders to develop a consultation paper on the Social Investment Fund. We hope to issue this paper for a period of public consultation in the next few weeks. Following an analysis of responses to the public consultation, we would hope to see funding being allocated during the autumn.   • Curates of Clonallon Who Resided in Mayobridge, Prior to the Formation of a New Parish
    CURATES OF CLONALLON WHO RESIDED IN MAYOBRIDGE, PRIOR TO THE FORMATION OF A NEW PARISH Reverend Fr Mooney The Revd Fr. Mooney was the first resident Curate in Mayobridge. He lived in the old Church of Ireland Vicarage until a new Parochial House was built by the Revd Fr. McMullan about the 1870s. He was a nephew of Fr. John Mooney, who was P.P. of Annaclone, and educated for the Priesthood at Maynooth. He was ordained in Newry by the Most Revd Dr. Blake in 1854. Having served the people of Mayobridge for 17 years, he was appointed Parish Priest of Annaclone in 1876 and he died on the 3rd September 1889. Before arriving in Mayobridge, he served as Curate in Banbridge from 1854 until 1856 and in Dromara from 1856 until 1859. His remains are buried in Magheral. Reverend Fr Matthew Lynch The Revd Fr. Matthew Lynch replaced him in Mayobridge where he served from 1876 until 1881. Born in the Parish of Drumgath, he studied Ethics at Violet Hill Newry and from there, entered the Irish College at Salamanca in 1862, and commenced his Theological Studies in 1863. He was ordained by Dr. Leahy in Newry Cathedral on 18th August 1867. He was appointed to Dromara, as Curate in 1868 and served there until July 1869, when he was transferred to Annaclone. Having served there until July 1876, he was then appointed Curate in Mayobridge where he stayed until November 1881. On the 13th November 1881, he became P.P. of Aghaderg and on 26th April 1890 he was appointed P.P.

Standing on top of the world with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, one can see as far as distant Scottish shores from the top of Helen's Tower. History: Built in 1848 by Frederick Lord Dufferin, 5th Baron of Dufferin and Ava in honour of his mother Helen Selina Blackwood, Helen's Tower has since been immortalized by Tennyson in the poem of the same name. Designed by architect William Burn and constructed in 1848-1850 as a famine relief project, Helen's Tower helped relieve unemployment at this time. The tower has taken on an unforeseen poignancy, as an almost exact replica of it, the Ulster Tower, was built at Thiepval in 1921 to honour the men of the 36th (Ulster) Division who fell at the Battle of the Somme. Clandeboye Estate was used for army training during the First World War, and the 36th (Ulster) Division trained beside Helen's Tower before leaving for France.

As you can see this has been an extremely busy year, with many enriching and rewarding activities for the children. As you are aware the school has continued to grow (208 pupils at end of June) and win awards that reflect the strength of our curriculum, teaching and learning environment. The school was awarded Flagship Status from IQM as a beacon school for inclusion, our inaugural Green Flag Eco-Schools Award, the Digital School of Distinction Mentoring School Award and are awaiting news on our International Schools Award and on the Social Media Award. This is fantastic for any size of school but especially for a small, rural one. Our academic scores in English and Maths continue to surpass national averages at every level – in fact, P7 last year exceeded national averages by 12 percentage points in English and 11.3 percentage points in Maths. A number of Minor Works Applications and funding opportunities came to fruition in the academic year 2017/18.
