Sustainable Tribal Empowerment Project Social Mobilisation, Empowerment and Capabilities : In India, over the last several decades, development goals and targets have been backed by commitment of resources by the State through an extensive array of public programs. However, indicators of human development, particularly among marginalized communities, point to the sub-optimal outcomes from Social Mobilization, Empowerment and Capabilities these investments. This Report analyzes the reasons for the continuing and large gaps between the social sector outlays Enhancing Development Outcomes and the outcomes. Through the experiences of the Sustainable Tribal Empowerment Project (STEP), the Report argues why it is essential for focusing on building community capacities to enable them to overcome barriers of participation and utilize opportunities for acquiring a range of assets and capabilities both at the individual as well as collective levels. The Report presents the strategy and interventions of STEP, being implemented in 6000 tribal communities in four districts of Andhra Pradesh since November 2001 with the objective of empowering them to realize their rights and overcome poverty, hunger and malnutrition. The outcomes of STEP have been measured through a group of indicators, which collectively form the Human Empowerment Index and Gender Empowerment Index. The indicators encompass the social, economic and political dimensions of development in the Project Area. The Report also compares these indices with those in the Control Area to establish the signifi cant impact made by the project. This Report will be of use to all those who are engaged in the process of human development and empowerment of poor in India. ABSTRACT: Over exploitation of forest resources by the various external agencies, mining operations and development projects of government and non-government in the tribal areas are resulting to deforestation which are adversely affecting the life of the aboriginals. The consequences of forest ecosystem degradation to tribal health are numerous. Primarily, which create natural imbalance of forest bio-diversity resulting to food problem and loosening permanent energy base. Prolonged starvation for food leads to high incidence of malnutrition, morbidity and mortality among them. Due to deforestation, some of the valuable medicinal plants become extinction and tribals also loose their prime medicinal source. The forest policies of government are also adversely affecting the livelihoods of tribals. In this research paper an attempt is made to explain tribals’ interaction with forests and influence of ecological and cultural factors on their health. It also deals with their indigenous medicinal practices and effects of government forest policies on their lifestyles. Further it emphasizes the relevance of action anthropology in solving the health problems of tribals. The paper discusses the inter connectedness in between the forest ecology, health and medicine of tribes in anthropological holistic perspective with an empirical evidence of a case study in Visakha agency area of Andhra Pradesh. We started working in a sma ll tribal hamlet in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India in 1987 with a group of tribal and rural youth in order to mobilize the local communities against exploitation by outsiders and by the government. We were formally registered as a non-gove rnment organization in 1990 and have traveled far from being a small community based social action group to a national level advocacy and support organization for the rights of the tribal people.

    TERMS OF REFERENCE Terms of Reference Assignment: Baseline and Market Scoping study for coffee, black pepper and turmeric value chains in Paderu, Andhra Pradesh Program: Verified Sourcing Area (VSA) IDH the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), is an international not-for-profit organization that convenes companies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), governments, and other stakeholders in public-private partnerships to accelerate and upscale sustainable trade of several agricultural commodities. IDH drives the joint design, co-funding, and prototyping of new economically viable approaches to realize green & inclusive growth at scale in agricultural commodity sectors and sourcing areas. Through its partnerships, IDH aims to drive sustainability from niche to norm in mainstream markets, delivering an impact on the Sustainable Development Goals. IDH VERIFIED SOURCING AREA (VSA) PROGRAM Due to the rising global demand for responsibly produced agricultural commodities, businesses, and governments in producing regions as well as in consumer markets are increasingly putting sustainability commitments on their agendas. Yet no efficient and inexpensive option currently exists to guarantee the supply of agricultural commodities that fulfill these commitments at scale. The Verified Sourcing Area (VSA) model is a new responsible sourcing mechanism currently being developed by IDH and its partners. The VSA model brings together the producing region, supply chain actors, and committed end buyers. In the producing region, a sustainability improvement deal (Compact) is made between private and public stakeholders at the jurisdictional level, e.g. a municipality, mandal, district, or state. Rather than verifying sustainability farm by farm, the proposed partnership model takes a regional jurisdictional approach, which reduces costs for sustainable agriculture and allows markets to buy large scale volumes with greater efficiency, transparency, and traceability.

The increase in fertilizer consumption has contributed significantly to sustainable production of food grains in the country. Single superphosphate (SSP) was the first commercial mineral fertilizer and it led to the development of the modern plant nutrient industry. This material was once the most commonly used fertilizer, but other phosphorus (P) fertilizers have largely replaced SSP because of its relatively low P content. Dashrath Prasad Fertilizers Pvt. Ltd. proposes to include Single Super Phosphate (SSP) manufacturing facility in permitted/consented NPK Fertilizers (by mixing only) unit in an area of 12.6 acres located at Sy. No. 274/1, 274/2, 276/A2, 277/A1, Tekulapalli Village, Penuballi Mandal, Khammam District, Telangana. The capital cost of the project is Rs. 5.5 crores. Prior environmental clearance is mandated by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), vide SO 1533, dated September 14, 2006, for Chemical Fertilizers manufacturing activity. The project sought terms of reference for preparation of EIA report during March 2017. State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) of Telangana advised the proponent to prepare EIA based on Standard Terms of Reference issued by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) for “Chemical Fertilizers” in the SEAC meeting held on 07.04.2017 and the draft Environmental impact assessment (EIA) report is prepared in compliance of the TOR to conduct public hearing.

II Quarterly report Nov to Dec 2010 On 9-11-2010 Kavali - Kothasatram and Indranagar villages visited by Mr.Sagar. 52 children registered from 1st class to 5th class. Only 41 of the 52 village children were attending that day. The remaining children didn’t attend due to rain. We asked the children some questions related on their subjects (Telugu, Science, Social for classes 3rd, 4th, 5th). The children responded well. We counseled the children to come to school every day, and to study well to make a brighter future for themselves. We met with Mr. Srinivas, Head Master of the school. He told that children are attending school regularly. There was less percentage of attendance in that week because of rain and festivals. Before the Dusshera holidays, the school conducted quarterly examinations. Children wrote well, and achieved good percentages in many areas. Experiences of children: Pamanchi Upendra – 5th Class: I am coming to school daily and I am studying well. I got 72% of marks in Quarterly. Aragala Sivayya – 5th Class: I am studying well. Daily I am going to school.

Simhachalam is a sacred place of pilgrimage in Vishakhapatnam district and ranks with Benaras and Tirupati, This hill temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, the Man-Lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In honour of this diety, a number of people of the district are named as Simha­ chalam, Simhadri, Narasimham and so on. The way upto the temple runs through terraced fields of pineapples dotted with jack, mango and other trees. It passes up a broad flight of weI/­ kept stone steps. over a thousand' in number, on either side of which trees have been planted to provide shade. There is a ghat road from the foot of the hill leading to the temple. Architec­ turally, the temple deserves high praise. The temple comprises a square shrine. surmounted by a high tower. a portico in front with a small circular tONer over it, a square sixteen pillared Mandapam. all made of dark granite richly and delicately covered with conventional and floral ornament and scenes from the Vaishnavite Purana. One of the pillars of the mandapam is called the 'Kappam Starnbharn' and people believe that. this pillar has the power of curing cattle diseases and 6150 barren women will be blessed with issues.
