Apologies: Carol Wenington 2. Minutes: Passed. The group agreed for the minutes to be put on the website. 3. Matters Arising: Please refer to the agenda. Brian McDermott agreed to be Auditor. Environmental: · Harelaw Cemetery: This is ongoing. There is one dangerous grave, Christine is addressing this and will look into the National Group of Cemeteries. A. Woodland Classroom: Eileen will ask on Facebook if any locals are willing to help with the pre- clean up. Bala will ask Groundwork to collect any rubbish. Groundwork would charge from £4.00 per kit for the Bird boxes. Another place to try is Johnson’s in Annfield Plain. We will do a survey to see how many children would like to do this before we apply for funding. The funding would include a wage for a member of Groundwork. Martin Weston who works for Leisureworks, may be able to help, he was involved in organising a treasure hunt and a bird identification day in Blackhill Park. Trace to contact. This project could carry over into the great British Birdwatch for next year. A suggestion was also made to put this information a little book or a You Tube video. B. Skips: The skip will be there from 9.30am on the 30th June Eileen would also like to promote the Morrison Busty tip, this could be put on Facebook. Jeanette knows of volunteers who may be able to help. C. One Stop, Gravel Patch: Lesley and Bala will look over the area. Hughie can collect the gravel and it will be recycled in the Community Garden at Annfield Plain. Another idea is to build a raised bed and decorate the sides possibly with a mural or hand prints. Social: Catchgate Methodist Church has agreed to do a Fun Day every Thursday morning in the summer holidays from 9.30 – 11.30am. They would like us to support them as we have in the past. All churches are welcome to work with us. Different ideas were discussed and it was decided to use the social section on the website to advertise what is available locally. · Trip to the Coast Wednesday 2nd August, children and adults pay £4 per ticket · Trip to Hall Hill Farm Wednesday 16th August, children and adults pay £10.00 · Estate walkabout with Karbon Homes There are some lovely gardens and a few that are not so well kept. Possibly people are aged/unwell/not able to afford a lawn mower. Could we contact the Landlords Association and work in cooperation with them or with some of the landlords? · Community Heroes – ideas and costings. We have looked into a small salver and having them engraved. We could have a presentation by the First Mayor of Stanley. · Availability of the Partnership John agreed to be available in the library on a Monday between 1.30 – 3.30pm. Lesley agreed to be available in the library on a Tuesday between 10.00am and 12.00 noon. · Next coffee morning – Wednesday 28th June, 10.00am to 12.00 noon at the Crown and Thistle. · Feedback from AAP This will be brought to the next meeting. IT · New website, email address, Twitter account, Facebook page. John and Eileen were thanked for doing a brilliant job. 4. Correspondence · No 8 The Ridings was brought to our attention via the Partnerships Facebook page. We mentioned above, to work in cooperation with the Landlords Association, hopefully, this will be able to visually improve our area and help sort this problem · Eileen Rolfe, from Pink and Blue, will now be donating 10% from all donated stock and will have a collection box to help the Partnership. The group were really happy with this cooperation. · We contacted Marsha Spence, Asda’s Community Champion, she will be able to attend four out of the six Fun Day’s at Catchgate Methodist Church. Reports: 5. Any Other Business: Unoccupied local buildings · The Smith’s Arms, this building affects the entrance to our village. The owner of building was given a court date in April to make improvements, nothing had been done so far. Is the Council going to do what it is allowed by law to do if the owners don’t meet court demands? Stanley Town Council is looking into this. · No. 60 Harperley Gardens is also a purchased property where a grant has been given and nothing has been done. Can the money be reclaimed by the council? This has been ongoing for fifteen years. The building has no toilets and is rat infested. The rats have access with the local burn through the open pipework. We need assurances that the rat situation will be dealt with before, during and after the work to Carrmyers. · Empty Property Law was discussed. · The empty green fronted shop in Catchgate was also mentioned, the front was painted last year. The shop was given a grant of over £100 000 but never opened. · Jeanette Stephenson will be meeting Ian Holt, The Neighbourhood Protection Manager and will discuss the properties above. · The memorial from the pit disaster which is at St Aidan’s, is now the responsibility of Stanley Town Council, they will decide memorials final place. Eileen will research the history. · A suggestion was put forward to do a strawberry tea. · The road markings at the Honey Pot were to be removed in April, the road markings are still in place. People have been given tickets for parking there. Local businesses are upset at the reduced parking available for people. · A complaint was made about the cars and bikes speeding through Catchgate. Can anything be done about this? 6. Date and venue of next meeting: Monday 17th July, 6.00pm at Annfield Plain Library .
