The Telkom strike that has lasted nearly two months has fi nally come to an end. The company and its worker union, the Communications Workers Union (CWU) fi nally came to an agreement after recent talks. Telkom employees had been on strike since 4 August. “Telkom approached these talks with the hope and intention of fi nding a meaning- ful engagement with the CWU and made several proposals to the union. Volgens die 2015-studie het meer as 10 persent van meisies in Afrikaanse skole ’n tekort aan sanitêre produkte. Die tekort veroorsaak dat sewe persent van meisies skool gereeld misloop om vernedering te vermy. Sedert die #HelpHanna-projek by die skole begin is, het meisies se skoolbywoning merkbaar verbeter. “Die projek help 3 600 meisies in 130 skole regoor die land en ontvang byna week- liks nuwe aansoeke van skole,” sê Van der Westhuizen. “Hierdie projek is nie net in die armste gemeenskappe nie, maar selfs welvarende skole en gemeenskappe,” In die Tshwane-streek is daar oor die 300 meisies wat gehelp word. Inwoners kan ook help om by te dra tot meisies se selfvertroue en seker te maak hulle nie skool misloop weens ’n tekort aan sanitêre produkte nie. The Blue Bulls qualifi ed for their fi rst Currie Cup fi nal in seven years when they beat the WP 36-30 in the semifi nal at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday. While many Blue Bulls fans expected their team would win the game easily, the WP players showed quite early on they have always been a team that knows how to ap- proach play-off games. With Cheslin Kolbe on the forefront, the WP backline made the Blue Bulls scramble on defence a few times early in the game. As the game continued the Blue Bulls played better and showed their willingness to run with the ball. But the home team’s players were their own worst enemy with many mistakes, awarding the Capetonians an opportunity to keep up with them on the scoreboard. Both teams scored a try in the fi rst half but one got the idea the home team was the stronger of the two, and should have had a much bigger lead at halftime than the six points (16-10). The second half started disastrously for the Blue Bulls when a weak pass from Tian Schoeman was snapped up by WP. This put them on the attack against the run of play and ended with a try for WP wing, Werner Kok.
