Questions are increasingly being asked regarding the faith of nutrient components such as proteins, minerals, vitamins, and lipids after feed formulation. The aim of this review is to evaluate the evidence with the perspective of fiber usage in feed formulation. The consumption of dietary fiber may affect the absorption of nutrients in different ways. The physicochemical factors of dietary fiber, such as fermentation, bulking ability, binding ability, viscosity and gel formation, water-holding capacity and solubility affect nutrient absorption. The dietary fiber intake influences the different methods in which nutrients are absorbed. -

The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence, gender differences and covariates of potential-doping-behavior, in kickboxing athletes. A total of 130 high-level kickboxing athletes (92 males, 21.37 ± 4.83 years of age, 8.39 ± 5.73 years of training experience; 38 women, 20.31 ± 2.94 years of age; 9.84 ± 4.74 years of training experience) completed questionnaires to study covariates and potential-doping behavior. The covariates were: sport factors (i.e. experience, success), doping-related factors (i.e. opinion about penalties for doping users, number of doping testing, potential-doping-behavior, etc.), sociodemographic variables, task- and ego-motivation, knowledge on sports nutrition, and knowledge on doping. Gender-based differences were established by independent t- tests, and the Mann-Whitney test. Multinomial logistic regression analyses were performed to define the relationships between covariates and a tendency toward potential-doping behavior (positive tendency – neutral – negative tendency). The potential-doping behavior was higher in those athletes who perceived kickboxing as doping contaminated sport. The more experienced kickboxers were associated with positive intention toward potential-doping behavior. Positive intention toward potential-doping behavior was lower in those who had better knowledge on sports nutrition. -

Cardiovascular Fitness—Activity 1 Name ________________________________________________ Date _________________ Class Period ___________ FITT Principle for Cardiovascular Fitness Cardiovascular fitness relates to the body’s ability to generate energy and deliver oxygen to working muscles. It is considered the most important component of physical fitness and is one of the best indicators of overall health. Aerobic exercises are best for developing cardiovascular fitness. Aerobic means “with oxygen” and includes continuous activities that use oxygen. Walking, biking, jogging, skating, or rowing are just a few examples of aerobic activities. Aerobic activities strengthen the heart and lungs, and make your working muscles more efficient at using oxygen. They also increase stroke volume (amount of blood pumped per heartbeat) and lower your resting heart rate to an average of 72 BPM (beats per minute). A resting heart rate varies. However, the lower your resting heart rate, the more efficient your heart is working. One long-term result of regular aerobic activity is cardiovascular endurance, sometimes called cardio-respiratory endurance. This is the ability of the body to work continuously for extended periods of time. Those who have a high level of cardiovascular fitness have lowered risks of adult lifestyle diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Cardiovascular endurance increases your chances for living a longer and healthier life. It is important to know your FITT Principles so that you gain health benefits for your heart. Figure 3.1 illustrates the different FITT Principles. Abstract Objectives: Exercise is considered an acceptable method for improving and maintaining physical and emotional health. A growing body of evidence supports the belief that yoga benefits physical and mental health via down- regulation of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis and the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The purpose of this article is to provide a scholarly review of the literature regarding research studies comparing the effects of yoga and exercise on a variety of health outcomes and health conditions. Methods: Using PubMedÒ and the key word ‘‘yoga,’’ a comprehensive search of the research literature from core scientific and nursing journals yielded 81 studies that met inclusion criteria. These studies subsequently were classified as uncontrolled (n 30), wait list controlled (n 16), or comparison (n 35). The most common ¼ ¼ ¼ comparison intervention (n 10) involved exercise. These studies were included in this review. ¼ Results: In the studies reviewed, yoga interventions appeared to be equal or superior to exercise in nearly every outcome measured except those involving physical fitness. Conclusions: The studies comparing the effects of yoga and exercise seem to indicate that, in both healthy and diseased populations, yoga may be as effective as or better than exercise at improving a variety of health-related outcome measures.
