CHAPTER V CONCLUSION

After analyzing this novel I can conclude that the intrinsic approach can be used to analyze this novel. I apply showing and telling methods to know the characterization of some character. The characters that I analyze are Alan Turing, Leonard Corell and Gandy as Alan Turing’s friend. Then by using the concept of setting, especially the five functions of setting I can know the setting of this Novel. Also by using the concepts of plot it can be known the plot of this novel from exposition, complication, crisis, falling action and resolution. Then I also conclude that the extrinsic approach can be used to analyze this novel. I use the concept of to explain about Freudian Death Instinct of Alan Turing character. The characterization, setting and plot of this novel support the concepts of death instinct. I also elaborate between the intrinsic and extrinsic analysis. It proves that the theme of this novel in Death instinct on character of Turing. According to the concept of Freud, instinct is an innate psychological representation of excitation due to the emergence of a body's needs. Human behavior is based on two fundamental energies the first, the instinct of life (life instinct). And second, the instinct of death underlying aggressive action and Destructive action. Death Instinct is underlying the aggressive and destructive action, even in the subconscious becomes the motivating force. Death Instinct can lead to or self- destructive behavior. The controls , rizky behaviors, and death. Often making humans engage in activities that bring them closer to death. .Death Instinct is self- destructive behavior is an expression of the created by the death . When this energy is directed outward on to others, it is expressed as aggression and violence. The instinct of death can lead to suicide or self-destructive behavior. Alan Turing is the main character. In the novel Fall of Man in Wilmslow, Alan Mathison Turing was born on June 23, 1912, in Paddington, London. He had studied at King’s College, Cambridge. In four inadequate words Alan Turing appears now as the founder of computer science, the originator of the dominant

technology of the late twentieth century. Alan Turing is found died in his home. it is widely committed suicide, unable to cope with the humiliation of a criminal conviction for homosexuality. We can know people commit suicide because of Personality Disorder. The main sign of a person having a personality disorder is often self-harm. signs are emotions that are unstable or have problems in socializing. These can have a history of sexual abuse and have a higher risk of suicide. It is estimated that more than half of people with this disorder will commit suicide attempts at least once during their lifetime. This research can give us something that we can learn in life. If we have a strong desire we must be able to distinguish and sun up what we have done is good or not. A strong desire can be good or bad depending on how strong each person in control their respective. So if we are repress ourselves too much to follow our desire it will make a death or life instinct depend on each person. We also get a lesson and moral values from this term paper. With this research we can know that the death instinct in individuals can be addressed through two directions to others and to yourself. The death instinct to self comes with suicide.

Alan Turing was born in a nursing home in Wilmslow, London. In four inadequate words Alan Turing appears as the founder of computer science, the originator of the dominant technology of the late twentieth century. He was particulary concern about his sexuality even in the hard and unsympathetic atmosphere of Manchester engineering. Turing was found by his cleaner when she came to his bedroom. According to the the was cyanide poisoning., and next to his body a bitten apple was found. The researchers concluded that Turing had injected cyanide in the apple before biting it. He was decided to end his life because of his conviction and treatment

by chemical castration, which has completed a year before his death.

RESULT OF THE RESEARCH SUMMARY This research can give us something that we can As explained of all methods that I learn in our lives. As suggestion, by understanding use, it proves the theme of this the characterization and that exist in research which is Freudian Death this term paper easily the readers can see the theme Instinct of Character Alan Turing in David Lagercrantz’s in Fall of Man in of this research. This research is useful to enrich Wilmslow Novel. psychology theory since there is only lack sources, which discuss about the Death Instinct.

METHODS OF THE RESEARCH

To analyze this research, I will use qualitative methods. The qualitative method can be used to analyze the literature by using psychological approaches. I use intrinsic such as characterization,

plot and setting. Extrinsic is the concept of Sigmund Freud, Death Instinct theory.
