We share the values of Regional Health and maintain a high level of accountability and dedication. “THE GREAT USE OF LIFE IS TO SPEND IT FOR SOMETHING THAT WILL OUTLAST IT.” [ WILLIAM JAMES ] 4 | 2017-2018 FOUNDATION DONOR REPORT | REGIONALHEALTH.ORG/WAYS-GIVE A LETTER FROM PAULETTE DAVIDSON, REGIONAL HEALTH PRESIDENT AND CEO Dear Regional Health Friends and Families, Like other providers across the country, Regional Health faces a rapidly evolving health care environment. Federal payers and private insurance providers are trying to cut or contain their costs. New science and technology are changing our understanding of disease and our ability to treat it. Our patients and families demand – and deserve – the best possible experiences. We understand these challenges, and we’re confident that Regional Health is on track to transform itself into a new, dynamic health care organization. In this new world of health care, we rely more than ever on the generosity of the individuals, companies and communities we serve. Your continued support is critical to our success. Through strong partnerships, shared vision, innovative thinking and mutual respect for all of our stakeholders, we can become a model for rural health care throughout the country. The Regional Health Foundation plays a key role in maintaining those strong partnerships and keeping the focus sharp on our shared vision. The Foundation board and staff work diligently to advance Regional Health’s objectives. As part of our long-term vision, we have undertaken projects to build new, modern healing environments in Sturgis, Custer and Spearfish. The new Sturgis Hospital and Clinic opened in February, and the new Custer Hospital and Clinic opened in April. During ribbon-cutting ceremonies, it was deeply gratifying to see community members, city officials and Regional Health leaders stand shoulder-to-shoulder to see what community connections can achieve. In Spearfish, the Regional Health Foundation continues to work with our partners and stakeholders to bring the same far-reaching vision to a thriving Northern Hills community as it becomes a health care destination for the entire region. Thank you for your commitment to our shared vision as we come together to build the Regional Health of tomorrow. With warm regards, PAULETTE DAVIDSON Regional Health President and CEO REGIONALHEALTH.ORG/WAYS-GIVE | 2017-2018 FOUNDATION DONOR REPORT | 5 A LETTER FROM PRISCILLA ROMKEMA Hospice House and hospice services, and market-specific projects and campaigns. Community Engagement and Educational Outreach In November 1977, 20,000 women and men left their jobs and homes in cities and small towns around the country to come together at the fi rst National Women’s Conference in Houston, Texas. Their aim was to end dis- crimination against women and promote their equal rights. Present were two former fi rst ladies–Lady Bird Johnson and Betty Ford—and the current fi rst lady, Rosalyn Carter. Also present were grandmothers and lesbians, Republicans and Democrats, African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinas, and Native Ameri- can women—and the most infl uential leaders of the burgeoning women’s movement—Bella Abzug, Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, Eleanor Smeal, Ann Richards, Coretta Scott King, Barbara Jordan and others. SISTERS OF ’77 provides a fascinating look at that pivotal weekend and how it changed American life and the lives of the women who attended. Using the fi lm as a focus piece, ITVS’s Community Connections Project (CCP), community engagement and educational outreach campaign, reaches out to: • Organizations that invest in building young women leaders • University and high school students who participate in gender studies, political science, history and social studies • Organizations that promote women’s equal rights, reproductive freedom, lesbian and minority rights • Internet groups that focus on democracy in action, social change and human rights Independent Television Service (ITVS) 501 York Street San Francisco, CA 94110 phone 415.356.8383 email [email protected] web www.itvs.org The goals

I want to thank the many supporters of the Humane Society who made it possible to provide the shelter and care for these animals when there was nowhere else for them to go. Those who have been kind enough to make a donation to the shelter allow us to provide food, medical care, and supplies. The businesses who have supported the shelter in so many different ways are appreciated and deserve the support of the community. Without all of you the fates of these animals would have been very different. Please consider making a donation to the Humane Society during the holiday season to help insure there will always be a shelter for animals in need.
