Camp Fire, USA. is a national organization working to help the home, the church, and synagogue bring up generations of youth whose values are spiritual and whose conduct is ethical. It is seeking to help them understand themselves, and to know the satisfaction and life enrichment that can come to them through achievement, through widening their interests and broadening their skills.

General Rules and Information

PLEASE READ ALL RULES AND STUDY CLASSIFICATIONS CAREFULLY. ANY ENTRY NOT CLASSIFIED CORRECTLY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 1. Eligibility: Entry in this department is open to only Franklin County Camp Fire Youth that are registered in the Central Ohio Council: Little Stars Preschool, Little Stars, Starflight, Adventure, Discovery Club, or Horizon Club. 2. Leader Check: It is necessary to have all the entries checked by the leader or her/his assistant so that all exhibits are in accordance with the rules. 3. Exhibitor Work: All articles exhibited must be the work of the exhibitor. No article that has been entered in a previous Franklin County Fair Junior Division may be entered again except Ceremonial Costumes and Award Vest (see #16). No kits allowed in any category under Discovery Club or Horizon Club, except as noted. 4. Number of Classes Entered: Each exhibitor will be permitted to enter as many classes as he/she may desire, but no more that one entry may be made by any one exhibitor in any one class. Classes entered can be scratched at time of entry drop off. 5. Entry Requirement: All entries will be done online this year. Complete details will be mailed to the Advisor . All Online entries will be due by June 2. Each individual or group making an entry must use a separate entry blank For group entries use official Starflight and Adventure names as the exhibitor name (i.e. "Wataka Adventure Group" rather than "4th grade Adventurers"). 6. Exhibitor Passes: It is recommended that leaders buy the $10.00 Junior Fair Advisors Pass. All youth who are participating as entrants in the fair and turn in a Jr. Fair Entry Form will receive a Junior Fair Exhibitor's pass through the leaders. This pass admits the adult or child each day but does not entitle the holder to free rides. See General Junior Fair Rules for details on ordering passes. 7. Entry Tags: Entry tags should be attached to the individual exhibit. The tags, giving the exhibitor's number, will be firmly attached to each exhibit. Consult Tom Singleton 851-8667 or 752-2972 for entry drop off time and place or if you do not receive your entry tag at least two weeks before the fair begins. 8. Exhibit Protection: Exhibits will be routinely monitored during fair hours and every effort will be made to protect the exhibits from loss or damage. However, neither the fair management nor the Camp Fire organization including its volunteers will be responsible for any loss or damage to exhibits. Protect entries for transport from drop-off to judging to the fair display. 9. Disqualification: The Department Advisor and Chairperson reserve the right to disqualify any article that is soiled, shows hard wear, or that does not comply with the rules and regulations of the Franklin County Junior Fair Division and the Camp Fire organization. 10. Release Time: All articles will be released at the fairgrounds Sunday, July 22, between 9:00am and 11:00am. The fair management will not be responsible for any article left on the grounds. Exception: Any member who is taking their project to the State Fair may remove their project starting at 8:00 pm on Friday, July 22 until the building closes. The individual must notify the superintendent at check in that they need remove their item on Friday Evening and the item must be checked out by the Superintendent on Friday. 11. Group Projects: The group projects have been divided into four divisions: Starflight, Adventure, Discovery Club and Horizon Club. Groups may enter only the division that corresponds to their grade as currently registered in Central Ohio Council during the last school year. The exhibit may be one item which at least the majority of youth have worked OR two or more samples selected from items made by the youth as a group project. Please check size limit (see #13). These projects maybe made under the guidance of the leader or person eighteen years of age or older but they must be the work of the youth. The number and ages of the youth that worked on the project must be listed on the back of the entry tag. Any articles entered in the individual classes will not be considered for a group project. Group explanation of project may be attached to the entry tag. 12. Individual Projects: The individual projects have been divided into four divisions: Starflight, Adventure, Discovery Club, and Horizon Club. Youth may enter only in the division corresponding to the grade which they are currently registered in the Central Ohio Council during the past school year. Each entry must be the work of the one boy/girl only. 13. Group and Individual Exhibits: All exhibits other than council entries may be no larger than 36"x36"x36" and no entry may weigh more than 20 pounds. Articles such as , tablecloths, afghans are acceptable when folded within the above size limitations. The judges consider originality of design, creativeness, workmanship, attractive appearance and durable construction. Please keep compactness in mind. Elaborate displays are not necessary and are not a judging point. The child's age and any information that would be helpful to the judges must be written on the back of the exhibitor's tag or securely attached to the tag. Exhibitor may attach description to entry tag. 14. Awards: Participation ribbons will be issued to each exhibitor not receiving a blue, red or white ribbon. Camp Fire Grand Honors/Best of Shows will be awarded when appropriate. 15. Headbands: Headbands must be accompanied by an explanation of symbolism or any other information that would be helpful to the judge. 16. Ceremonial Costumes/Awards Vest: Ceremonial costumes and award vests must be accompanied by an explanation of any symbolism used and a description or information as to how the emblems were earned which could be helpful to the judges. Judging will consist of the four main points: (1) Best Development of Symbolism, (2) Emblem Explanation, (3) Neatness and (4) Appearance. (Please note: is not a judging point. It is permissible to have someone else do the sewing.) All award vests and ceremonial costumes may be entered every year if there have been changes made from the previous judging. Changes must be included in the explanation. 17. School Projects: If graded school projects are entered, please cover or remove the grade, teacher's comments and student's name. 18. Garden Projects: A. Any Camp Fire member, 8 and in the 3rd grade to 18 years of age as of January 1 of the current year, is eligible to participate in the Scarecrow Contest, Horticulture Judging & Identification Contest and /or the Arrangement Challenge. B. Dry flowers for arrangements may be grown and dried by the participant or purchased, then arranged. The exhibitor must grow all other gardening projects unless otherwise stated. C. Potted plants, dish gardens and planters using purchased foliage plants must have been planted and cared for at least two months before entry in fair. The length of time the entry has been in the youth's care should be noted on the entry tag. Junior Fair Events: Any Camp Fire member, 8 and in the 3rd grade to 18 years of age as of January 1 of the current year, is eligible to participate in following events if they have entered in at least one Camp Fire Class and paid the $2.00 entry Fee (except any youth classes).
