The DAN GABLE MR. WRESTLE AWARD: Dylan made it in the top 7 candidates in the Mr. Wrestler Award. Go to www.iawrestle.com and click on 2021 Mr. and Ms. Wrestler of the Year – TOP 7 to vote for Dylan in the 2nd round. Fans have the ability to vote once per day (24 hr period) for their top wrestler in each category until Monday, Feb. 8, where it will be narrowed down to the top 3. (Top voted wrestler receives a nomination).

This year Large Group Evening of Performance will be an Afternoon of Performance. This showcase of talent will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 6th. We will practice social distancing in the auditorium. Seniors, remember you will be honored at this performance. Please stop by Mrs. Sandbulte’s room for further instructions. If you can NOT perform (and why couldn’t you if it was originally the state contest date), please see Mrs. Sandbulte as soon as possible.

STATE SPEECH: Will be Monday, February 8th starting at 6:00 PM. The reason for the change in date is because of the availability of judges. Each participant can have four audience members attend. Masks will be required in the rooms and hallways. Performers will only take off their masks when they perform.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOOK CLUB: Will be Friday, February 5, at 7:50.

MS GIRLS BASKETBALL & SHUTTLE STUDENTS: Dismiss at 3:10 today. Only route and ASAP students should be at the school after 3:20. If you do not have anything after school, please go home.

SENIORS: If you have not done so, please get your senior and baby pictures to Karen NOW.

PROM MEETING: Will be TOMORROW Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 8:00 AM in Mrs. Stratman’s room.

VALENTINE’S DAY SUCKERS: The NHS will be selling suckers for Valentine’s for $.50 on Thursday, Feb. 11 and Friday, Feb. 12 in the old commons before school and during 8th period.

NHS APPLICATIONS: An email has been sent out to all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors with the National Honor Society Application. Applications need to be handed to Mrs. Lyon by Friday, Feb. 26 by 3:30 PM. Get started early because you need to contact different people for letters of recommendation, and you need to give them plenty of time to write their letter. Also, everything needs to be completed 100% or your application will not be accepted by the committee. If you have any questions, please stop and see Mrs. Lyon in room #205 or you can email her.

ALL DRIVING STUDENTS: The first 8 parking spaces on the south side of the student parking lot are reserved for the District Office staff and visitors. So please do not park in the first 8 spots. Also UNDERCLASSMEN (9-11) do not park in the first to rows on the north side of the parking lot. These senior spots.

ALL STUDENTS: NO GUM in the lunch room.

ROUTE STUDENTS: Due to the cold weather, you will wait for the route bus in the library until April 1 (or until the weather warms up again). On Wednesday’s you will be waiting in Mrs. Schmidt’s room for the route bus.

ASAP: For the month of February will be in Ms. Ubben’s room (#102). The ASAP bus will leave George at 5:00 and get to Little Rock by 5:15 to bring George students back.

ATHLETIC TRAINER: Brandon from Avera will be available every day at noon. If you would like to see him, please sign up in the high school office.

COLLEGE VISITS: SENIORS & JUNIORS: If you would like to meet with a representative from one of the following colleges, there will be a sign-up sheet in Mr. Helkenn’s desk. Put your name down and we will call you to the office when they arrive. These are informational sessions where you can learn more about a 2 or 4 year school. All college meetings will be in the conference room by the office. The following colleges will be here:

FITNESS CENTER: Is now open to the public. Be sure to have proper paperwork turned in and the membership fee paid. Fobs are only turned on once the proper paperwork and required payment are received in the district central office. All users including groups are asked to sign in and out to record fitness center use. Membership is granted to adults living within the communities who are 18 or older and no longer a high school student (and have graduated and concluded all summer sports seasons). For the purpose of safety, students must be supervised by an adult while using the fitness center. Fitness center will be available for community membership use on: Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Sunday 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM School use hours are Monday – Friday 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM The fitness center will be closed on inclement weather days or other days when the school is closed due to weather or health concerns. If there are changes in these hours the posting will be on the high school announcements web page. Access the fitness center by door “A” on the east side of the GLR district building.

MUSTANG SPORTS BOOSTERS FUNDRAISER: Driveway Paintings: Support the GLR students and show your team pride with a Mustang Driveway Logo! Choose 1 or 2 logos( dimensions 4’ W x 2’ H). Choose red or black paint. 1 logo is $25. 2 logos are $40. Must be present when painted to advise location and color. 100% of proceeds go to the GLR Students Athletic Program.

BOOSTER CLUB FACE MASKS: The GLR Booster Club is selling Mustang face masks for $5 each. You can purchase them in the high school office or at the concession stand during games.

SWING CHOIR PRACTICE: Will be 7:00 AM every Monday and Tuesday mornings until Swing Show is done.

PARKING REGISTRATION FORMS: If you are driving to school, you will need to fill out a Parking Registration From. The form is available in the high school office. Forms are due back to the high school office.

DRESS CODE-For ALL High School & Middle School Students: Here is a list of inappropriate clothing that should not be worn: * Spaghetti straps, midriff tops, muscle shirts, short shorts or skirts as well as low cut tops or extremely tight clothing is inappropriate. The bottom hem of the shorts/skirt must reach the student's fingertips when the arm is extended by the side. Tops must reach the top of a student's pants/skirt when sitting or standing. Undergarments must not be exposed or visible. * Clothing or accessories that advertise or promote items that are illegal to minors, such as alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs are prohibited. Any clothing or accessories with either pictures or words that infer, suggest, hint or imply lewd or sexual content are prohibited. * Clothing that is inappropriate to the environment (area or weather) should not be worn. No shoes with cleats are allowed indoors. Hats, caps, head wear of any kind, sunglasses, chains, and/or gang-related clothing is prohibited, unless the principal gives specific approval. * Pants in which underwear is showing are inappropriate. Pants that are too big also pose a safety issue in vocational areas. Dress that is disruptive to the learning environment, but is not specifically mentioned in the Parent/Student Handbook, is inappropriate. If dressed inappropriately, students will be told to change clothing. If there are any doubts about the appropriateness of the attire, DON'T WEAR IT.

BICYCLES: Students that ride their bicycle to school, need to park them in the bike racks. The racks are located on the west side of the Central Office Building (elementary building) and on the north side of the high school building.
