Additional information: Coordinator’s Report on the Corridor http://ec.europa.eu/transport/themes/i Promachonas () and () are main border-crossing points nfrastructure/ten-t-guidelines/corridors between Greece and Bulgaria. The proposed Action is located on a pre- identified section Vidin-Sofia-Burgas-Thessaloniki-Athina of the Orient/East- European Commission Med Corridor. It is part of a Global Project to upgrade the railway line between http://ec.europa.eu/transport Thessaloniki, Strimonas and Promachonas that aims to remove bottlenecks on the existing cross-border section and enhance accessibility and connectivity Innovation and Networks Executive between the two countries. Agency (INEA) http://ec.europa.eu/inea It consists of a set of studies to upgrade and electrify the railway line between Thessaloniki and Promachonas. The outcome of these studies will lead to works to remove the above mentioned physical bottlenecks. In the long term the proposed action will generate a significant modal split in favour of rail along the southern branch of the Orient/East-Med Corridor.
