We invite our swimmers and their families to join us on Saturday August 8th to sample the flavor of Geneva. Four local wineries will be on hand to provide samples of their finest wines. The social will also feature food local to the Northeast Ohio region. (Reaction Time: +0.69. (Note: Phelps’ third world-record in 100 fly, second time in 23 days he has broken it. Last man to break wr twice in same year was Australian Michael Klim, who did it twice in two days in December of 1999 in Canberra, when he swam 52.03 [12/10] and 51.81 two days later. (Note: first time record has been broken in Rome and/or Italy. (Note: Phelps’ second-consecutive gold. Ties him with former U.S. teammate Ian Crocker for most wins in this event [2]. Phelps also won @ Melbourne [2007] in a then pr 50.77. U.S. has eight of 13 golds overall. (Note: Phelps first man to leave a major international competition holding both butterfly world records since Russia’s Denis Pankratov following the European Championships in Vienna 14 years ago [August 1995]. Pankratov first broke the 200 world record of USA’s Melvin Sewart [1:55.69 to win gold @ the 1991 World Championships in Perth] with his 1:55.22 @ Canet in June of ’95. The Russian then won the gold and broke the global-standard in the 100 w/his 52.32 @ Vienna two months later. That swim took down the USA’s Pablo Morales’ 52.84 from the U.S. World Championship Trials in Orlando nine years earlier [June ‘86].

    International Masters Training Weekend with Glen Christiansen & Nick Gillingham Following a successful overseas International Masters Training Camp in Tenerife Glen Christiansen from Sweden and Nick Gillingham from Great Britain are delighted to announce a further opportunity for Masters Swimmers at the Sennocke Centre, Sevenoaks, Kent, UK. The Sennocke Centre has all the high quality facilities you would expect for a successful international camp and with two of the World’s greatest breaststroke swimmers together sharing their global swimming and coaching knowledge in the water as well as in the classroom, this swimming experience makes for a unique learning opportunity. Glen Christiansen has coached at the highest level in Sweden, Germany and Japan and as an Olympic swimmer in 1980 has had a lifetime in the sport. Glen was world ranked no.1 for the 100 metres Breaststroke in 1981 and represented Sweden for 9 years. Glen has enjoyed overwhelming coaching success; He was an Olympic coach in 1996 for Sweden and has placed numerous swimmers onto Olympic teams with medal success. He now thrives on the challenges of multi-strokes and multi-ability camps and dedicates all his time to the organisation and delivery of Masters Swim Camps across the World. He became a World Masters Champion for the first time in 1986 and has since collected 14 World Titles across multiple events. Glen has coached Masters Swimming since 1985 around the world and on behalf of FINA has educated coaches in developing countries world-wide. Over 20 gold medal winners at the last World Masters Championships in Gothenburg were guided to success through his knowledge and dedication to the sport; a charismatic man whose energy for the sport of swimming is second to none.
