Things to Look For This Week... These are awarded to the student-athletes deemed by their teammates to be the toughest members of the team. Four players carried over the honor from 2019: Daniel Archibong, Isaiah Graham-Mobley, Randle Jones, and Branden Mack. Jones is the first player in Temple history to wear #0. Braswell, Tyler, and Blue earned theirs at the beginning of camp this season, while William Kwenkeu and Ifeanyi Maijeh earned theirs a week before the season opener. KNOWLES KNOWS DEFENSE From the start, both the Temple defense and coordinator Jeff Knowles were on the same page in 2019. The Owls proved to be one of the best redzone defenses in the nation, finishing the season ranked seventh. On top of that, the Owls ranked 21st in the FBS in defensive pass efficiency, and fifteenth in the naiton in team tackles for loss.

BACKEND LEADERS Cornerback Christian Braswell and safety Amir Tyler earned single-digit numbers at the beginning of camp this season. In his first season on North Broad Street, Carey led the Owls to an 8-5 record and a berth in the 2019 Military Bowl. That ex- tended Temple’s streak to five straight bowl games, the longest in school history. The eight wins tied Steve Addazio fro the most wins by a first-year head coach in Temple history. Carey rose quickly to the head coaching position upon his arrival on the NIU campus in 2011.
