Memorial Exhibition for Legendary Teresa Opens at Central Station “Art in MTR”

A priceless collection of exhibits depicting the life and times of legendary singing star Ms Teresa Teng is now on display for the first time in an MTR station! Organised by the Teresa Teng Fan Club to mark the 25th anniversary of the late singer’s untimely death in 1995, the “Dreams lingering in the soul of Teresa Teng” exhibition is being shown at the “Art in MTR” at Exit/Entrance J of Central Station from today (1 December 2020) to 31 December 2020.

Around 100 fascinating and personal items are on display, including some of Teresa’s casual wear and accessories which she personally gave to the Fan Club, precious photos, album covers, MTR commemorative tickets, a miniature portrait and a model of her former residence in Hong Kong (See Appendix for a list of the exhibited items). Fan Club Chairperson Ms Cheung Yim-ling hopes visitors can experience and relive Teresa’s amazing singing career from the 1960s to the 90s through the exhibition. “For those who know and love Teresa, this exhibition allows them to recall Teresa’s charisma and style,” said Ms Cheung. “I also hope the younger generations from the 1990s onwards will learn more about Teresa’s life and her timeless songs through this exhibition,” Ms Cheung added.

“It is our honour to have this Teresa Teng memorial exhibition at our station,” said Ms Linda Choy, Corporate Affairs Director of MTR Corporation. “Teresa was an iconic artist whose angelic voice and impressive performances attracted legions of devoted fans. ‘Art in MTR’ aims to integrate art into people’s daily life. I believe this exhibition will allow her fans as well as other members of the community to refresh their memories and learn more about Teresa by exploring her career and seeing some of the personal items that accompanied her on her memorable life’s journey,” Ms Choy added.

“Dreams lingering in the soul of Teresa Teng” is the latest exhibition for the “Art in MTR” programme under the Corporation’s “Community Connect” initiative. MTR Corporation strives to integrate art into stations by offering space at different MTR stations for art exhibitions under the “Art in MTR” programme to promote artistic talent and the public’s art appreciation.
