We are again delighted to present this year’s Art Show participants and their work. Science fiction and fantasy art has long been an important part of orldcon,W through the Art Show and Art Programme, the Artist Guest of Honour, the Best Professional and Best Fan Artist Hugos, and the Chesley Awards given by ASFA (the Association of Science Fiction & Fantasy Artists). Loncon 3 is proud to continue this tradition and to present the work of almost one hundred artists in our Art Show, from multiple Hugo Award winners to those just starting out on their own creative journeys. We are also proud to feature three Guests of Honour who between them reflect the full diversity of the art field. • Chris Foss’s ground-breaking science fiction art revolutionised paperback covers from the early 1970s. Raising the bar for realism and invention, his trademark battle-weary spacecraft, dramatic alien landscapes and crumbling brutalist architecture irrevocably changed the aesthetic of science fiction art and cinema. • Graphic storyteller Bryan Talbot has been published in over twenty countries recognized with an Eisner award, the Prix SNCF and several Eagles, having worked in the medium for over thirty years.

ROOKE BOOKS Catalogue 17: Science fiction www.rookebooks.com Rooke Books, Catalogue 17: Science Fiction Here at Rooke Books, we are proud to present our latest catalogue, this time showcasing Science Fiction. From the wonderful to the downright weird, this sometimes spooky collection takes you on a journey across the world - and beyond. A noted and personal favourite inclusion is our first edition of '2001: A Space Odyssey.' This is an immaculate copy of the novel based on the famous screenplay. Unlike many of Kubrick’s relationships with authors, such as Ste- phen King and Anthony Burgess, Kubrick and Clarke had an extremely positive partnership with this film and the novel being a joint success. Our copy offers the chance to possess a defining moment of the Science Fiction genre. Our cover work is the incomparable ‘I, Robot’ by Isaac Asimov. Ground-breaking, iconic and still relevant. It also has a fabulous cover. It is rare in a pleasing condition. If superlative copies are what you are looking for, there is perhaps no book better than 'Orphans of The Sky' by Robert Heinlein. This is the first edition of the work. It is rather scarce and this treasure is pristine in its original and iconic Gollancz yellow jacket. Truly a collector’s piece. As far as defining names in the genre go, little compares to H. G. Wells. Signed copies of his works are hard to come by, with association copies being scarcer still. Our edition of 'Things to Come' is inscribed to his son, Anthony, and is a unique example of a defining piece of the Science Fiction canon.
