The plan provides for: How to T contribute . * 21 new sheltered accommodation units P-9 * 13 new rooms with toilet facilities * 102 rooms to be provided with toilet facilides * 15 rooms to offer nursing facilities The AJR through its AJR Charitable Trust has undertaken responsibility for mounnng the appeal to raise the funds for this project. Moreover, in order to permit an immediate start on the implementation of the plan the Trust has underwritten the first £500 000 of the cost. Thus work has already started on the first phase. Higher expectations Our homes offer sheltered accommodation, residendal care and full nursing care for about 250 people, a considerable number, but not enough to meet current needs. They have been shining examples of their kind, comparing favourably with others around the country. But higher standards are now expected, which means that new rooms must be built with private toilets and showers, and these facilities must be added to existing rooms. Residents are now older at the time of admission and average age in the homes has risen to 85. -

NON-CONFIDENTIAL Sky’s response to Ofcom’s Call for Evidence December 2020 NON-CONFIDENTIAL Executive summary This is the response of Sky UK Limited (“Sky”) to Ofcom’s call for evidence on its review of the interaction between BBC Studios (“BBCS”) and the BBC Public Service (“Public Service”), dated 9 October 2020 (“Call for Evidence”). In Sky’s experience, the existing arrangements between the BBC’s commercial subsidiaries and the Public Service risk distorting the market, in breach of the BBC’s regulatory obligations under the Royal Charter and Framework Agreement. Sky’s main concerns include: a. the lack of meaningful separation between the management and direction of the Public Service and the BBC’s commercial subsidiaries, including BBCS; b. the exclusive supply of key content to BritBox, in which the BBC holds a 10% shareholding; c. the risk that such exclusivity undermines the ability of BBCS to earn a commercial rate of return, in accordance with the Trading and Separation requirements imposed by Ofcom (“the Requirements”);1 and d. the lack of transparency in the supply of goods and services from the Public Service to BBCS. Communications Market Report Research Document Publication date: 19 August 2010 Introduction This is Ofcom’s seventh annual Communications Market report. Its objective is to act as a reference source covering the UK communications sectors, aimed at industry, policy makers, analysts and consumers. The report also provides context for the work that Ofcom conducts in furthering the interests of consumers and citizens in the markets we regulate. The report contains data and analysis on broadcast television and radio, broadband and fixed/mobile telephony. It also offers insights into how people are using the internet and converged devices to access audio-visual and audio content. Take-up of several digital devices and services passed new thresholds in 2009/10. Over seven in ten people (71%) now have access to a broadband connection at home; over nine in ten (92%) have digital television installed on their main set in the home. And more than a quarter (26%) of mobile users now have a smartphone, offering consumers access to much more than just voice telephony. Growing levels of device take-up are reflected in the new ways in which people relate to communications services and media content. Broadcast television viewing and radio listening have remained comparatively stable year on year. But people are also using the internet to access audio and audio-visual content. Nearly four in ten people claim to watch television services online, while 14% listen to radio over the web. Moreover, a fifth (23%) of mobile handset owners now use it to access data-related services such as the internet. This is just a snapshot of the findings emerging from this year’s report. -

Reference: FS50150782 Freedom of Information Act 2000 (Section 50) Decision Notice Date: 25 March 2008 Public Authority: British Broadcasting Corporation (‘BBC’) Address: MC3 D1 Media Centre Media Village 201 Wood Lane London W12 7TQ Summary The complainant requested details of payments made by the BBC to a range of personalities, actors, journalists and broadcasters. The BBC refused to provide the information on the basis that the information was held for the purposes of journalism, art and literature. Having considered the purposes for which this information is held, the Commissioner has concluded that the requested information was not held for the dominant purposes of journalism, art and literature and therefore the request falls within the scope of the Act. Therefore the Commissioner has decided that in responding to the request the BBC failed to comply with its obligations under section 1(1). Also, in failing to provide the complainant with a refusal notice the Commissioner has decided that the BBC breached section 17(1) of the Act. However, the Commissioner has also concluded that the requested information is exempt from disclosure by virtue of section 40(2) of the Act. The Commissioner’s Role 1. The Commissioner’s duty is to decide whether a request for information made to a public authority has been dealt with in accordance with the requirements of Part 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the “Act”). In the particular circumstances of this complaint, this duty also includes making a formal decision on whether the BBC is a public authority with regard to the information requested by the complainant. -
