Chessington World of Adventures Guide
Chessington World of Adventures Guide Overview One of three theme parks located in Greater London that are operated by Merlin Entertainments Group, Chessington World of Adventures combines a host of rides and shows with a world-class zoo. Whereas nearby LEGOLAND Windsor is aimed at families with kids aged 2-12, and Thorpe Park caters for teens and young adults, Chessington offers something for just about every age group. In addition to the theme park and zoo, the site is also home to the Holiday Inn Chessington, a safari-themed hotel that overlooks the Wanyama Village & Reserve area. History The origins of Chessington World of Adventures can be traced back to 1931, when a new zoo was established in the grounds of a fourteenth century country mansion by entrepreneur Reginald Goddard. The zoo was eventually acquired by the Pearsons Group in 1978, which subsequently merged with the Madame Tussauds chain to form The Tussauds Group. The newly-formed company embarked on an ambitious £12 million project to build a theme park on the site, and Chessington World of Adventures opened to the public in 1987. ACE's Scandinavian Sojourn
ACE’s Scandinavian Sojourn : A Southerner’s Perspective Story by: Richard Bostic, assisted by Ronny Cook When I went on the ACEspana trip back in 2009, it was by far one of the most amazing vacations I have ever experienced. In addition to getting to visit parks in a different culture than we see here, it is also a great opportunity to spend time with fellow enthusiasts and grow friendships while enjoying our common interests. When Scandinavia Sojourn was announced for the summer of 2011, I knew it was a trip I could not miss. Since the 2009 trip was my first trip to Europe I thought that there was no way the over- all experience could be better in Scandinavia. I was wrong. We landed in Helsinki, Finland around 1300 the day before we were required to be at the hotel to meet with the group. Helsinki is an interesting city and fairly new compared to many cities in Europe. Walking around the city you can see the Russian influence in the city’s architecture. In fact, many movies during the cold war would use Helsinki to shoot scenes that are supposed to be set in the Soviet Union. After making our way to the Crowne Plaza Hotel and getting a quick lunch at the hotel restaurant we decided to spend the remaining time that afternoon checking out some of the sites around our hotel. Some of these sites included the Temppeliaukio Church inside of a rock formation, the train station, Routatientori Square and National Theater, and a couple of the city’s art museums. -
Water Coaster "Atlantica" Supersplash
New Attraction: Water Coaster "Atlantica" SuperSplash Off to new shores: Since March 19th 2005, the visitors of Europa-Park can look forward to a brand-new attraction. "Atlantica? SuperSplash is the name of the new water coaster which set sail for its maiden voyage at the beginning of Europa-Park's 30th anniversary season. A world novelty is one track section with turns and a backwards ride, which was never realised with boats of this size before. The new water coaster was designed by Mack Rides in Waldkirch, it is the first component of the Portuguese themed area, which will be completed in 2006. According to its history as a traditional seafaring nation, the main theming of Portugal is the era of the great Portuguese seafarers and discoverers in the 15th and 16th century, when it was a challenge to conquer the oceans. Go aboard and experience an adventurous ride through the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean! A 16th century Portuguese fortress is the center of the area around the "Atlantica? SuperSplash. Its interior is dominated by "Henry the Seafarer?, who points at the endless Atlantic Ocean in order to challenge everybody to set sail and discover the unnknown. Because once the visitors leave the strong walls of the protective fortress, they are put to a severe test? With a height of 32 meters, the "Atlantica? SuperSplash is Europa-Park's second-highest attraction (the "Silver Star? has a height of 73 meters). In five large boats, each one for up to 16 persons, the visitors are pulled up to the highest point of the water coaster. -

3. Guida Europa Park

From your friends at Jackson Auto Worx JULY 2019 Summer’s Literal Ups and Downs It is said that life is a rollercoaster. It is also true that rollercoasters are, uh… rollercoasters. As summer is firmly here, we at Braking News are taking the plunge into one of America’s beloved summer pastimes; amusement parks. And specifically the thrilling feel of danger and excitement engineered for safety and mass consumption, the rollercoaster. • There are more amusement and theme parks in the United States than in any other country in the world. • According to the Roller Coaster DataBase, there were 4,639 coasters in operation around the world in 2018 — 4,455 of them steel, 184 wooden (3 of the woodies have loops in them! Take that, preconceived childhood notions!) • Of those 4,639 rollercoasters in the world, 19 of them are found in Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia California, the largest number of rollercoasters in any one park anywhere in the world. • California may host the park with the greatest number of coasters, but in order to experience the fastest roller coaster in the world, you’ll need to travel to the other side of the world. The fastest roller coaster, “Formula Rossa” ride, is located in Abu Dhabi’s Formula One theme park and launches its riders to a top speed of 149 miles per hour. • According to Guinness World Records, Bakken, located in Klampenborg, Denmark, opened in 1583 and is currently the oldest operating amusement park in the world. • The worlds fastest coaster may be in Abu Dhabi, but he tallest roller coaster is in the Six Flags Great Adventure Park in New Jersey. -

Real World Performance Tasks
Cedar Point Real World Performance Tasks Real World Real Life, Real Data, Real-Time - These activities put students into real life scenarios where they use real-time, real data to solve proBlems. In the Relationship Status series, we use data from theme parks and update our data regularly. Note - some data has been rounded or simplified in order to adjust the math to the appropriate level. Engaging Relevant – Students today are familiar with and enjoy amusement park rides, making these activities very relevant to children’s everyday lives. To pique their interest further, try asking the Your Challenge question to the class first. Authentic Tasks - Through these activity sheets students learn how the amusement park industry works and are prompted to form opinions and ideas about how they would solve real life proBlems. A glossary is included to help them with the unfamiliar terms used. Student Choice - Each set of activity sheets is available in multiple versions where students will do the same activities using data for different amusement parks (e.g., Busch Gardens, Hershey Park, Six Flags, etc.) You or your students can pick the location that most interests them. Modular Principal Activity - The activity sheets always start with repeated practice of a core skill matched to a common core standard, as set out in the Teacher Guide. This principal activity (or Level 1 as it is labeled to students) can Be used in isolation. This should generally take around 10-15 minutes.
