This week’s Snapshot of India is here.
It includes this month’s Mann Ki Baat held on 25th April 2021; National Panchayati Raj Day which was on 24 April (celebrating SVAMITVA scheme for issuance of property cards to household owners in rural abadi), and Leaders Climate Summit.

NATIONAL PANCHAYATI RAJ DAY
SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas), a Central Sector Scheme of Ministry of Panchayati Raj was launched by the Prime Minister on National Panchayati Raj Day, 24th April 2020. The scheme aims to provide the ‘record of rights’ to village household owners in rural abadi areas and issuance of Property cards. The Scheme has been approved for implementation at an outlay of Rs 566.23 cr across the country in phased manner over a period of five years (2020-2025) and would eventually cover approx. 6.62 lakh villages of the entire country.

COVID STORIES Support from UK
On 26 April 2021, UK Government sent their first of several urgent deliveries of surplus vital medical supplies including 100 ventilators & 95 oxygen concentrators to India to help provide life-saving care for vulnerable Covid patients. Another shipment contained 120 oxygen concentrators to help those suffering with COVID-19 in the country. It’s also arranging to send 3 container-sized oxygen factories. We thank the UK government and its citizens for helping India in such difficult times.

Oxygenated Beds
Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan oversees addition of 500 Oxygenated Beds in Delhi. Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre & hospital at Chhatarpur will have 2000 oxygenated beds in total.
Plant Trees
“You have consumed 1,44,000 litre oxygen to recover. Now plant 10 trees to give it back to nature”. This is an appeal made to a Covid-19 patient on a Nagpur hospital discharge summary. The hospital has made it a trend to mention the oxygen given to a patient, and appeal to plant at least 10 trees after recovery. Community raising donation for India

Exemption of various good in wake of COVID-19
The Government of India has granted full exemption from basic custom duty and heath cess on the import of essential items related to oxygen and oxygen- related equipment for a period of three months with immediate effect until 31st July 2021. Railway Coaches
Indian Railways mobilises 22 additional Covid Care Coaches and 2670 covid care beds at 9 different stations in Delhi, UP, MP and Maharashtra. Nearly 64,000 Covid care beds provisioned around 4000 Covid Care Coaches across the Country.
