2 About Aaron Diehl

Pianist Aaron Diehl is a graduate of Juilliard’s Jazz division, where he studied with , , and Oxana Yablonskaya. Recent performance highlights include serving as music director for the New Orleans Songbook concert series, performing in the New York premiere of Philip Glass’ complete Etudes at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, collaborating with the flamenco guitarist Dani De Morón in Flamenco Meets Jazz, and touring the U.S. and Europe with jazz singer Cécile McLorin Salvant. His trio with Ms. Salvant and bass player Paul Sikivie and drummer Lawrence Leathers has performed at Walt Disney Hall (Los Angeles), Jazz in Marciac (Marciac, France), the Newport Jazz Festival (Newport, RI), North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Istanbul Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s (London), and La Cigale (Paris). His albums include Space, Time, Continuum (with performances by tenor saxophonist and baritone saxophonist , alongside Diehl’s other established trio including drummer Quincy Davis and bassist David Wong); The Bespoke Man’s Narrative, released in 2013; Live at the Players, featuring both of his trios, was released in 2010; and his first solo album,Live at Caramoor, was released in 2008. He has collaborated with artists and ensembles including Warren Wolf, Lew Tabackin, Matt Wilson, Wycliffe Gordon, the Septet, and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Mr. Dhehl was the 2014 Commission Artist and the 2013 recipient of the Jazz Journalists Association Award.
