COMEBACK CITY, USA: The Padres earned a 8-7 victory over the Mets yesterday afternoon at Citi Field despite trailing by a score of 7-1 as late as the seventh inning, fueled by a seventh-inning grand slam from Derek Norris Sunday 8-7 Thursday 5-7 (more on this below) and a ninth-inning, go-ahead, two-out, three-run homer from Justin Upton…the six run comeback was Monday 3-8 Friday 10-6 the largest by the Padres since August 23, 2013 vs. Chicago-NL (trailed 6-0, won 8-6) and their largest after seven innings Tuesday 7-9 Saturday 10-6 since May 14, 2011 at Colorado (trailed 7-1 in the seventh, won 9-7). Wednesday 6-10 • Per ELIAS, it was only the fi fth time in the Padres’ 47-season history that they won a road game in which they trailed April 11-12 August 0-0 by as many as six runs in their seventh inning or later. • The six run comeback was the third-largest comeback by a Major League team this season, behind only an eight-run May 14-15 September 0-0 comeback win for the Nationals on April 28 at Atlanta and a seven-run comeback for the Blue Jays on June 12 at Bos- June 12-15 October 0-0 ton…the six-run comeback after seven innings is tied for the largest comeback of it’s kind this season (also July 12-11 Minnesota on June 10 vs. Detroit).
