Received: 3 September 2020; Accepted: 15 October 2020; Published: 18 October 2020 Abstract: Eco-friendly betanin/clay minerals hybrid materials with good stability were synthesized by combining with adsorption, grinding, and heating treatment using natural betanin extracted from beetroot and natural 2:1 type palygorskite or 1:1 type halloysite. After incorporation of clay minerals, the thermal stability and solvent resistance of natural betanin were obviously enhanced. Due to the difference in the structure of palygorskite and halloysite, betanin was mainly adsorbed on the outer surface of palygorskite or halloysite through hydrogen-bond interaction, but also part of them also entered into the lumen of Hal via electrostatic interaction. Compared with palygorskite, hybrid materials prepared with halloysite exhibited the better color performance, heating stability and solvent resistance due to the high loading content of betanin and shielding effect of lumen of halloysite. -

Once it has reached a syrup-like consistency, take it off the heat and mix with the green mustard. Slowly add the orange juice and mix together. Freeze the mixture and then place in a home ice cream machine or Pacojet. BEETROOT TARTARE Take a ripe avocado and blend into a paste. Dice the cooked beetroot into small cubes along with the Granny Smith and Golden apples. In a separate bowl, incorporate the blended avocado with the diced beetroot and apples to create an equal mixture of ingredients. Plate in a circle on the plate and finish with a herb salad and drizzle the extra virgin olive oil on top of the tartare. I like to use INGRED IENTS tarragon, basil, dill and chives for a delicate, pretty yet punchy salad. The assessment of the quelite composition depends on the chemical characteristics of the compounds being evaluated; the protein quality is a direct function of the amino acid content, which is evaluated by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and the contribution of minerals is evaluated by atomic absorption spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) or ICP mass spectrometry. The total contents of phenols, flavonoids, carotenoids, saponins and other general compounds have been analyzed using UV-vis spectrophotometry and by HPLC. -

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is an essential nutrient that is required for the proper running of different body functions. It is a water-soluble vitamin and lost during the processing of food. The main sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits (kakadu plum, acerola cherries, guavas, kiwi, lemon, lychees, kale, oranges, peaches, tomatoes, black currant, thyme, parsley, rose hips, kale and strawberries), green leafy vegetables (chilli peppers, tomato, sweet yellow peppers, parsley, brussel sprouts, potatoes, mustard spinach and broccoli), fortified cereal and some animals. Vitamin C deficiency leads to scurvy, which mainly affects older, malnourished adults. Vitamin C acts as a strong antioxidant, and this property enriches various biological activities. It is believed that high dose of vitamin C may help in reducing the risk of various diseases like cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, blood pressure, respiratory syndromes, common cold, reproduction, cognitive diseases, skin problems, age-related muscular degeneration, cataract and may enhance immunity. This mini-review article has been planned to discuss sources, deficiency symptoms, daily requirements, therapeutic potential, and various biological activities of vitamin C. -

This marginal habitat has led many researchers to hypothesise that foliar betalains provide tolerance to abiotic stressors such as strong light, drought, salinity and low temperatures. Among these abiotic stressors, soil salinity is a major problem for agriculture affecting approximately 20% of the irrigated lands worldwide. Betacyanins may provide functional significance to plants under salt stress although this has not been unequivocally demonstrated. The purpose of this thesis is to add knowledge of the various roles of foliar betacyanins in plants under salt stress. For that, a series of experiments were performed on Disphyma australe, which is a betacyanic halophyte with two distinct colour morphs in vegetative shoots. In chapter two, I aimed to find the effect of salinity stress on betacyanin pigmentation in D. australe and it was hypothesised that betacyanic morphs are physiologically more tolerant to salinity stress than acyanic morphs. Within a coastal population of red and green morphs of D. australe, betacyanin pigmentation in red morphs was a direct result of high salt and high light exposure. Betacyanic morphs were physiologically more tolerant to salt stress as they showed greater maximum CO2 assimilation rates, water use efficiencies, photochemical quantum yields and photochemical quenching than acyanic morphs. -

However, not much is known on the effectiveness of betanin in regulating fat accumulation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the inhibitory effect of betanin on adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 adipocytes and its mechanism action. The results show betanin significantly inhibited oil red O-stained material (OROSM) and triglyceride levels in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, indicating betanin inhibited lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. In addition, the peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor γ (PPARγ) expression was significantly inhibited in the betanin-treated adipocytes, implying that betanin suppressed the cellular PPARγexpression in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. -

Common Name Beetroot leaf spot Scientific Name Cercospora beticola Distribution Worldwide. Asia, Africa, North, South and Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, Oceania. It is recorded from Australia, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Niue, Papua New Guinea, and Tonga. Hosts Beta species (Beta vulgaris, beetroot, silver beet, and Beta vulgaris variety saccharifera, sugar beet), Amaranthus, spinach, and lettuce. Many weeds are hosts: Chenopdium, Amaranthus, Plantago and Verbena. Symptoms & Life Cycle Leaf spots, round to irregular, 2-5 mm wide, ash-grey to pale brown, usually with a brown or reddish-purple border often severe on older leaves (Photo 1). Spores develop in the centre of the spots. The centre of the spots fall out, giving a 'shot-hole' symptom. The disease can be severe on older leaves; the spots join together, the leaves dry and later collapse, although remain attached to the plant. Spread over short distances occur by rain splash whereas, over longer distances, it occurs in wind and seed. Survival occurs on crop remains: spores only last a few months, but the fungal strands of the stromata, last 1-2 years. The fungus also survives on weeds and seeds between crops of beet. Seed infection is common in sugarbeet, especially in Europe, the US and India. Warm (20-30°C) wet weather with showers favours the disease. Impact Severe outbreaks with loss of (sugar) yield are reported in sugar beet from many countries of the world.
