"IT is of infinite moment that you should properly estimate the immense value ofyour National Union to your collective and individual happiness: that you should cherish & cordial, habitual, and immovable attachment to It: accustoming yourselves to think and speak of It as of the palladium of your political safety and prosperity.'' WASHINGTo~'s Farewell .Address to the Peop/£ qfthe UniUd Stu.ta. PHILADELPHIA: CHILDS & PETERSON, 124 ARCH ST. 1855. Entered according t.o Act of Congress, In the year 1855, by FURMAN SIIEPPARD, In the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of Penm~ylvania. PREFACE. IT is almost impossible to exaggerate the importance of a thorough study of the Constitution of the United States by the pupils in our schools. It is, nevertheless, a study which has' hitherto been sadly neglected, chiefly, as teachers are aware, for want of a plain, practical, and thorough work upon the subject. It is true there are several text-books which have been used to a greater or less extent; but however meritorious they are in many respects, in others they seem objectionable. Some of them, in aiming at simplicity and brevity, have become trivial and meagre; others are composed chiefly of disquisitions and gene ralities, which cannot be made the proper subject.matter of reci tation in the school-room; there are still others containing partisan or sectional views, or assuming a controversial air in the discussion of unsettled constitutional questions. -
Spiritual Warfare Is the Hot Topic on the Evangelical 'Circuit'
A Biblical Evaluation of Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare Errol Wagner piritual Warfare is the hot topic on the evangelical 'circuit' today. This can be seen in the large number of books published, seminars and meetings held, dealing with Sthis subject over the past few years. There is a preoccupation with the spirit realm and its influence on the world and lives of individual Christians. This has given rise to a sense of urgency in certain groups that the church needs to do something to deal with these forces of evil. As a result many churches are becoming caught up in practices like 'spiritual mapping', 'prayer walks', 'on-the-spot praying', etc. Perhaps no books have affected the thinking of Christians on the subject of Spiritual Warfare more than Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness, and its sequel Piercing the Darkness. In his novels, Peretti depicts spiritual warfare against the backdrop of New Age globalism. A strong impression is created that believers are in constant combat with the forces of evil. Although Peretti did not intend his books to be taken as anything other than fiction, nevertheless, as Dr Kim Riddlebarger points out, 'People have in many cases, actually redefined their views of the supernatural based upon a fictional novel'. He asserts further: 'Cumulatively, this has produced a whole new generation of Christians who now see the world through a supernatural grid that has more in common with Greek and Persian mystery religions than with Christianity.' I This does not mean there are no serious books on this subject available. We have books written by Dr Rebecca Brown who has worked out a whole system of rebuking and binding Satan and the demonic forces. -

7Th Grade Summer Reading
Hampton Christian Academy 7th Grade Dear Parents, As we enter this summer, all of us — parents, students, and teachers — are excited about the well-earned break from the rigors of school. At the same time, however, we recognize that much hard-earned knowledge tends to slip away during the summer months unless we take measures to retain mental acuity. There is no question that one of the most valuable components to your student's academic success is a sustained pattern of reading. Students who are strong, avid readers are generally proficient students and competent test-takers. Hampton Christian Academy remains committed to doing all we can to develop our students’ reading skills and help them discover the life-long pleasure reading can bring to their lives. Each student in grades 7-11 is required to read a minimum of three books during the summer break. One of the books has already been chosen for the student based on thematic content and grade level. This selected book will then be discussed the first week of school and a test will be given in class on the required book. This test will account for 50% of the student's summer reading test grade. An additional 25% will be earned by successfully completing a computerized Accelerated Reader (AR) quiz on a book from the grade level Accelerated Reader book list. AR quizzes consist of 10-20 questions focusing on reading comprehension. Students may drop by the school library on Fridays during the summer from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. -

Spiritual Warfare” in the Anglican Charismatic Renewal
The Church Militant: A Study of “Spiritual Warfare” in the Anglican Charismatic Renewal by GRAHAM RUSSELL SMITH A thesis submitted to the University of Birmingham for the degree of DOCTOR of PHILOSOPHY School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion College of Arts and Law University of Birmingham July 2011 University of Birmingham Research Archive e-theses repository This unpublished thesis/dissertation is copyright of the author and/or third parties. ABSTRACT This thesis uses a practical-theological methodology to explore the theology and spirituality of „spiritual warfare‟ that developed in the charismatic renewal from the 1960s. Beginning with a study of twelve charismatic Anglican pioneers, a detailed case study then explores spiritual warfare praxis in a charismatic Anglican congregation. The ensuing theological reflection focuses on the ontology of evil, through dialogue with Nigel Wright, Amos Yong, and Gregory Boyd, as well as Karl Barth and Walter Wink. The thesis argues for a positive ontology for evil powers, based on a charismatic hermeneutic of biblical texts; on the grounds that Jesus treated Satan and demons as real spiritual entities, the Pauline epistles refer to real evil spiritual powers in the heavenly realms, and charismatic experience supports this ontology.
