Marco Gonzales 7th AppleSox to Reach MLB Yesterday St Louis Cardinals made Marco Gonzales the seventh former AppleSox reach the highest level of baseball. He is slated to be the starting tomorrow when the Cardinals play the Denver Rockies in Denver.

Gonzales made national news right out of high school when some of his prep accomplishments were picked by Sports Illustrated, and his picture and the following appeared in Faces In The Crowd on June 21, 2010. Marco Gonzales FORT COLLINS, COLO. Baseball Marco, a senior utility player and pitcher at Rocky Mountain High, struck out 11 and hit a three-run to help the Lobos to a 9--4 win over Ralston Valley and their fourth-straight state Class 5A title. The winning pitcher in all four championship games, Marco was 11--0 this season and was named ’s Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year.

As a pitcher for Wenatchee he started 8 games, had a 5-1 record plus a save, 2.77 ERA, struck out 66 in 52 innings and only walked 10. As a batter he hit .256 in 82 at bats. Gonzales when onto Gonzaga where the young man had an outstanding career. Among many honors, the pitcher and won the 2013 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award given by the College Baseball Foundation.

300th Home Win The triumph last evening was the 300th at home for Wenatchee. Before local fans they are now 300-140, broken down as 199-103 league, 89-31 nonleague and 12-6 playoff.

200th Home League Win Next The next league win for the Sox on the local diamond will their 200th in 14-plus seasons where they are 199-103 (65.9%). In league encounters on the road they are 166-122 (57.6%).

Playing on the Edge Of 16 league contests, last night’s was the seventh one-run game for the AppleSox. So far, so good... they have won six, in fact six straight.
