ADAM GEIGER

Adam is a Director/Writer/Producer and Director of Photography with over 25 years of science, history and natural history experience. He specialises in marine and underwater content — though his films have delved into diverse topics, from the Dingo of Australia’s outback to the surprisingly intelligent, urban pigeon, and the social impact of alcohol.

Adam formed SeaLight Pictures nearly two decades ago to create programming for major broadcasters and production companies in the US, Australia, China, France and Germany. His work has received numerous awards for writing, producing and cinematography.

As Creative Director of SeaLight Pictures, Adam is a key creative in conceptualising, writing, and executing programs and series for international broadcasters and clients. He creates budgets, plans shoots, and supervises production teams in the field, as well as, editors, graphics, and music in post production.

Adam’s love of science and natural history programming is an expression of his background. He combines a BA in Marine Science from Hampshire College with an AA in Filmmaking and from Brooks Institute of Photography. He was mentored by underwater photographer Ernie Brooks and Cousteau cameraman Luis Prezelin.

Adam’s marine filming experience has taken him to some of world’s most important underwater sites, from hydrothermal vents along the mid-Atlantic Ridge to the wrecks of the San Pedro, the Lusitania, the Bismarck, the pirate ship Whydah, and even inside the Aquarius . He documented the search and discovery of the San Jose in Colombia.

Adam is a former member of IATSE 600 as a Director of Photography, and worked on TV spots and as DoP for water-action scenes for several feature films. He was a Producer and Director of Photography for National Geographic Television in Washington, DC.
