Belgium will look to maintain a five-year unbeaten home run in competitive games when they welcome Israel in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying Group B. • Belgium, two points ahead of second-placed Wales, booked their place in France with a 4-1 triumph in Andorra on 10 October. With Wales having the head-to-head advantage, Belgium need to beat Israel to ensure they top the section. • Israel slipped to fourth behind Bosnia and Herzegovina after losing at home to Cyprus on 10 October and must now win and hope the Bosnians drop points in Cyprus in order to claim a play-off place. Previous meetings • Marouane Fellaini's early goal proved decisive as Belgium beat Israel 1-0 in Jerusalem in March, though they had to play the final 26 minutes with ten men following the dismissal of . • The nations have met six times, with Belgium's record in those games W5 D0 L1 (W1 D0 L0 in Belgium). • The teams' only previous competitive encounter in Belgium came in 1966 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Armand Jurion's penalty (24) gave Constant Vanden Stock's Belgium a 1-0 win against Milovan Ćirić's Israel in Brussels on 9 May 1965. Form guide • Belgium are unbeaten in 13 home qualifiers (W8 D5), a run spanning over five years, since a 1-0 loss to Germany in September 2010. • Israel have lost only once away in this qualifying campaign (W2 D1 L1), 3-1 in Bosnia and Herzegovina in June. Disciplinary • The latest booking list is available here: http://www.uefa.org/disciplinary/disciplinary-cases/booking-lists/index.html. Trivia and links • Israel goalkeeper Ofir Marciano (R. Mouscron-Péruwelz) plays in Belgium. • Israel have had the edge in terms of their seven UEFA age-group competition meetings, with four wins to Belgium's three. The Under-16 side that beat Belgium 2-0 in a 1987 qualifier in Ciney remain the only Israeli team – club or national – to have defeated a Belgium selection on Belgian soil in a UEFA men's game. Israeli teams' record in Belgium reads W1 D2 L9. • In the 14 UEFA club competition meetings between sides from these nations, Belgian clubs' record is W9 D2 L3. Most recently, R. Charleroi SC beat Beitar Jerusalem FC home and away in this season's UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.

5 Belgium - Israel Tuesday 13 October 2015 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels Head coach Marc Wilmots Date of birth: 22 February 1969 Nationality: Belgian Playing career: K. Sint-Truidense VV, KV Mechelen, R. Standard de Liège, FC Schalke 04, FC Girondins de Bordeaux Coaching career: FC Schalke 04, K. Sint-Truidense VV, Belgium • Started out at Sint-Truiden in 1985 and joined Mechelen in 1988, appearing as a substitute in the first leg of that year's UEFA Super Cup as the Belgian side defeated PSV Eindhoven. A forward before later moving into midfield, Wilmots helped Mechelen clinch the Belgian title in 1988/89 ahead of a switch to Standard, where he lifted the Belgian Cup in 1993. • Signed for Schalke after five years with Standard, scoring the winner in the first leg of the 1997 UEFA Cup final against FC Internazionale Milano and then converting the decisive spot kick in the second-leg shoot-out. Wilmots ended his career with Schalke – picking up the German Cup in 2002 – after a short stint at Bordeaux. • Notched 28 goals in 70 outings for Belgium, including two at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and three in South Korea/Japan in 2002; he also featured at the 1994 World Cup and UEFA EURO 2000. • Took over as Schalke coach after retiring in 2003 but left the post soon afterwards to pursue a career in politics. Serving as a senator in his native Belgium, he then briefly held the reins at Sint-Truiden from 2004 to 2005. • Returned to the dugout in 2009 as assistant to Belgium boss Dick Advocaat, and later Georges Leekens, before his own nomination as head coach in May 2012. Steered his country to the 2014 World Cup in his first qualifying campaign, Belgium going on to reach the quarter-finals in Brazil, and then took them to UEFA EURO 2016. Eli Gutman Date of birth: 24 February 1958 Nationality: Israeli Playing career: Hapoel Haifa FC, Beitar Netanya FC, Maccabi Neve Shanan FC, Maccabi Kiryat Bialik FC Coaching career: Maccabi Kiryat Bialik FC, Beitar Haifa FC, Maccabi Tirat Carmel FC, Maccabi Tamra FC, Hapoel Zafririm Holon FC, Maccabi Herzliya FC, Hapoel Beit Sha'an FC, Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC (twice), Hapoel Haifa FC (twice), Beitar Jerusalem FC, Hapoel Petach-Tikva FC, Enosis Neon Paralimni FC, Maccabi Netanya FC, AEL Limassol FC, Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC • Had a low-key career as a midfielder before hanging up his boots aged 28, moving into coaching with fifth division Maccabi Kiryat Bialik FC. Completed a sports science degree and became a teacher, while also coaching in local soccer after national service as a naval officer. • Gutman's first taste of top-flight football came in 1990 when he spent two years as assistant coach at Maccabi Haifa. Won his first major honour in 1997, leading Hapoel Beer-Sheva to Israeli State Cup success. • Returned to boyhood club Hapoel Haifa in 1997, clinching a league championship two years later. • Indifferent stints at Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Petach-Tikva preceded successful spells with Cypriot sides Paralimni and AEL. Responded to bottom-of-the-table Hapoel Tel-Aviv's rescue call in 2007, steering the team to seventh position and the State Cup final. • A dramatic climax to 2009/10 brought the league and cup double in a three-day period. At the start of the next term, Hapoel emerged through three qualifying rounds to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time. In December 2011, he was appointed Israel coach on a two-year deal, an arrangement that was extended in January 2014 to cover the UEFA EURO 2016 campaign.

EURO finals: The UEFA European Championship was a four-team event in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 (when the preliminary round and quarter-finals were considered part of qualifying).

From 1980 it was expanded to an eight-team finals and remained in that format in 1984, 1988 and 1992 until 1996, when the 16-team format was adopted. UEFA EURO 2016 was the first tournament to be played as a 24-team finals.

Records of inactive countries A number of UEFA associations have been affected by dissolution or splits of member associations. For statistical purposes, the records of these inactive countries have been allocated elsewhere: therefore, all Soviet Union matches are awarded to Russia; all West Germany – but not East Germany – matches are awarded to Germany; all Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro matches are awarded to Serbia; all Czechoslovakia matches are allocated to both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Abandoned/forfeited matches For statisical purposes, when a match has been started and then abandoned but later forfeited, the result on the pitch at the time of abandonment is counted. Matches that never started and were either cancelled or forfeited are not included in the overall statistics.
