BEOGRAD 97 KOMISIJA ZA HARTIJE OD VREDNOSTI REPUBLIKE SRBIJE 99 BEOGRADSKA BERZA 9 A WORD OF INTRODUCTION Dear readers, n front of you is the special issue of Bankarstvo Journal which, traditionally, for the thir- Iteenth time, reviews the banking sector of Serbia’s operations in the previous year. The bank- ing sector of Serbia will be presented through articles sent in by the banks, National Bank of Serbia, Securities Commission, Belgrade Stock Exchange and the Association of Serbian Banks, as well as through the Analysis of Financial Position and Financial Result of the Banking Sector, which is annually prepared by the ASB and is the introductory segment of the special issue of Bankarstvo Journal. In the previous year, the trend of consolidating the banking sector of Serbia continued, which resulted in five banks changing owners. Alpha Bank Serbia a.d. Belgrade changed its owner at the beginning of the year, when it was taken over by AIK Bank a.d. Belgrade. Marfin Bank a.d. Belgrade was sold to Ekspobanka a.d. Belgrade, while Direktna banka a.d. Kragujevac now owns Findomestik bank a.d. Belgrade. Jugobanka Jugbanka a.d. Kosovska Mitrovica went into bankruptcy, its business portfolio being taken up by Postal Savings Bank a.d. Belgrade. As a reminder, in 2007 there were 33 banks operating on the market, while, ten years later, there is a total of 28 banks. This year’s special issue of Bankarstvo Journal contains the data and the overview of 27 banks, i.e. all banks operating on the Serbian market save one, since Mirabank a.d. Belgrade decided not to participate this year either. This outstanding response proves that the banks have recognised the point and significance of such a publication, which displays in one place the overall development and dynamics of the banking sector of Serbia in the previous period, and which also provides each bank with the opportunity to individually present its business results. We would like to use this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank all our associates from the banks and other presented institutions who took part in the preparations and submission of articles, since without their help and contribution to painting a comprehensive picture of the banking sector in Serbia in 2017, this special issue of Bankarstvo Journal could never have been published. Alpha Bank Srbija a.d. Beograd je početkom godine prva promenila vlasnika, kada ju je preuzela AIK banka a.d. Beograd. Kragujevac novi vlasnik Findomestik banke a.d. Beograd. Jugobanka Jugbanka a.d. Kosovska Mitrovica otišla je u stečaj, a njen poslovni portfolio preuzela je Banka Poštanska štedionica a.d. Beograd.
