Clendening, 26, has recorded three shots and a +1 plus/minus rating in four games with the Blue Jackets this season. Signed by Columbus as a free agent to a one-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract on July 1, 2018, he has registered 4-20-24, 49 penalty minutes and a +11 plus/minus rating in 90 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Arizona Coyotes, New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks. The Niagara Falls, New York native ranks eighth among AHL defensemen in penalty minutes and ninth-T in assists and leads the Monsters in assists, penalty minutes and plus/minus rating with 4-32-36, 98 penalty minutes and a +17 plus/minus rating in 44 appearances this season. He has registered 32-165-197, 365 penalty minutes and a +48 plus/minus rating in 305 career AHL games from 2012-19. The 6-0, 194-pound blueliner was selected by Chicago in the second round, 36th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JULY 16, 2021 COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS RE-SIGN GOALTENDER CAM JOHNSON TO ONE-YEAR, TWO-WAY NHL/AHL CONTRACT COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed goaltender Cam Johnson to a one-year, two-way National Hockey League/American Hockey League contract for the 2021-22 season, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Johnson, 27, was originally signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent on January 9, 2021 and served on the club’s taxi squad during the majority of the 2021-22 campaign. He also posted a 6-1-0 record with a 1.77 goals-against average, .941 save percentage and two shutouts in seven games with the Eastern Conference Hockey League’s Florida Everblades last season. The Troy, Michigan native has registered a 23-11-2 record with a 2.28 GAA, .926 SV% and five shutouts in 38 career ECHL contests with the Everblades and Adirondack Thunder from 2018-21. He has also gone 11-16-5 with a 3.80 GAA, .873 SV% and one shutout in 32 career AHL games with the Binghamton Devils from 2017-19. In 2018-19, he went 11-15-3 with a 3.79 GAA, .872 SV% and one shutout in an AHL career-high 29 games with the New Jersey Devils’ AHL affiliate. The 6-1, 205-pound netminder played four seasons at the University of North Dakota from 2014-18, compiling a 56-26- 12 record, 2.10 GAA, .914 SV% and 12 shutouts in 102 career outings.
