I David sul palcoscenico americano. L'Accademia del Cinema Italiano - Premi David di Donatello sarà protagonista della seconda edizione di Italian Cinema Cuny (Ic-Cuny), laboratorio educativo per lo studio del cinema italiano presso The City University of New York. Fondato e diretto dalla professoressa Eugenia Paulicelli (Professor of Italian Studies, a scholar of Fashion and Film), Ic-Cuny 2019 è curato con Massimo Mascolo, consulente per l'Accademia dell'organizzazione dei premi David. Al primo appuntamento, in programma il 31 ottobre, con il sostegno di Variety, interverranno alcuni tra i più importanti costumisti in attività, per un incontro che coinvolgerà eccellenze del cinema italiano e internazionale, introdotto da Piera Detassis, presidente e direttore artistico dei premi David di Donatello.

Fra i protagonisti dell'incontro dal titolo "The Craft of Cinema: ", Milena Canonero, quattro premi volte premio Oscar, attualmente al lavoro sul nuovo film di , , e Carlo Poggioli, candidato agli Emmy e ai David di Donatello, autore degli abiti di The Young Pope e The New Pope di Paolo Sorrentino, Loro e Waiting for Barbarians, oggi sul set del nuovo film di Terrence Malick. Al loro fianco anche Ann Roth, vincitrice di e premio Oscar per Il paziente inglese e collaboratrice di , , , e, infine, l'americana Donna Zakowska, trionfatrice agli Emmy per i costumi della serie The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Insieme a BulgariI verrà inoltre celebrata l'origine della statuetta dei Premi David, con l'esposizione della prima riproduzione in oro realizzata https://www.repubblica.it/spettacoli/cinema/2019/10/31/news/david_in_america-239961945/per la premiazione inaugurale del 1956: in quella prima edizione vennero premiati con la preziosa statuetta Gina Lollobrigida, WaltPage Disney 1 of e4 Vittorio De Sica.In programma, inoltre, una presentazione di Annamode 1946 e la proiezione del cortometraggio di Maria Tilli L'Andrienne, realizzato dal Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia che approfondirà il crossover tra cinema e moda. Ic-Cuny proseguirà il 13 e 14 novembre con proiezioni e talks incentrati sul cinema italiano contemporaneo e il Made in Italy.

Il 5 dicembre, infine, talks sul rapporto tra costume e moda, la presentazione della video-serie educational The New Made in Italy: 21st Century Fashion and Design e la seconda Masterclass tenuta da Daniela Ciancio, costumista vincitrice di due David di Donatello (Il resto di niente e La grande bellezza), con la partecipazione del costume concept artist Christian Cordella, altra eccellenza italiana all'estero, che ha contribuito tra l'altro a Total Recall, G.I. Joe 2, Biancaneve e il cacciatore, Men In Black III, Millennium: uomini che odiano le donne, Cowboys & Aliens, Captain America, Thor, Fast And Furious 5, Mangia, Prega, Ama, Iron Man 2, La Mummia 3.
