There also reached them a considerable amount of additional information, illustrating the earlier history of the Clan, and indicating the common origin of various families. The discovery of papers at Pitfour a year after the book came out was followed by the appearance of His Grace the Duke of Atholl's Chronicles of the Fa1nilies of .Atholl and Tulliebardine, which gives many interesting particulars about the Olan in Athole, while the Editors have been placed in communication with the representa­ tives of other families, who had been unaware of, or omitted to contribute to the original volume. Ultimately in the spring of 1898 the Clan Fergusson Society authorised the preparation and publication of the present supplemen­ tary volume. The Editors have, as on the previous occasion, en­ deavoured to supply notices of the families dealt with from the pen of a member of the particular family.

Overview of Development Opportunities 6.1 Introduction This section summarises opportunities for future use and development that have been identified in the policy zone section and provides additional guidance and advice where appropriate, including relevant Argyll and Bute Development Plan (Structure and Local Plan) policies that need to be considered. Development opportunities identified are indicative, subject to obtaining the required consents, and do not preclude development applications and activities elsewhere. 6.2 Aquaculture Development Figure 6.1 highlights existing sites which have the potential to be expanded and also policy zones where there is potential to support new developments. Although the policy zone section provides guidance on the most appropriate locations for aquaculture development, individual development proposals will still require detailed, site-specific appraisal. These may sometimes require a formal environmental impact assessment (EIA) and consideration of carrying capacity issues by regulatory authorities. All new and modifications to developments will require to be consistent with relevant Argyll and Bute and Development Plan Policies and obtain the required authorisations from other competent authorities to proceed. 6.2.1 Expansion of Existing Sites There are a total of ten salmon farms in Loch Fyne, seven in lower Loch Fyne and three in upper Loch Fyne. There also reached them a considerable amount of additional information, illustrating the earlier history of the Clan, and indicating the common orisrin of various families. The discovery of papers at Pitfour a year after the book came out was followed by the appearance of His Grace the Duke of Atholl's Chronicles of the Families of Atholl and Tidliebardine, which gives many interesting particulars about the Clan in Athole, while the Editors have been placed in communication with the representa- tives of other families, who had been unaware of, or omitted to contribute to the original volume. Ultimately in the spring of 1898 the Clan Fergusson Society authorised the preparation and publication of the present supplemen- tary volume.

    Weeds Survey for Cowal Area carried out during July-August 2004. Summary. The overall assessment of the problem in the Cowal area shows most shorelines and verges etc have been invaded by Japanese Knotweed. There is big increase of Ragwort in the area, mainly on roadside verges, but also evident along many shorelines. Rosebay Willow Herb and Himalayan Balsam thrives on most verges. No Giant Hogweed was found on Council-owned ground. The roads showing the worst invasion of Ragwort were the Trunk road from Oyster Bar to Arrochar, and the Clachaig to Tarsan Dam road. It was noted that on the trunk road, BEAR had treated the facing edge of roadside clumps of Japanese Knotweed, and left the rest of the clump untreated; they are also using a non-selective chemical that is killing everything in the vicinity. No other weeds have been treated on the trunk road. Private and unadopted roads were not included in this survey. Detail. Dunoon Cemetery. Japanese Knotweed on waste ground. Moir Street Car Park Japanese Knotweed and Ragwort at Church Street end of car park. Dunoon High road – Sandbank Ragwort evident as small patches/individual plants along roadside verges. Also Rosebay Willowherb and Japanese Knotweed patches. Sandbank Village Shore Road Ragwort growing on seaward side of sea wall between Oakbank and Robertson’s Yard site. Verge south of Broxwood Picnic Site, there is large area of Japanese Knotweed. Verge north of Picnic Site, many Ragwort plants, lots of Rosebay Willowherb. Main Road at turnoff to Clachaig, Ragwort and Japanese Knotweed. Main A815 Glen Massan junction to Lochgoilhead turn-off.
