A Ballet Performance for A Cause Presented by Artists for Aveni Foundation Thursday, November 14, 2019 7pm at the Aratani Theatre, Little Tokyo in Los Angeles TICKETS ON SALE NOW ARATANI THEATRE – www.jaccc.org LOS ANGELES, CA (September 10, 2019) – Artists for Aveni, an organization in support of the Aveni Cancer Foundation, is pleased to present a ballet performance featuring American Ballet Theatre luminaries Stella Abrera and James Whiteside alongside ABT Studio Company. The ballet benefit gala celebrates 10-year cancer survivors who were treated with Aveni Foundation’s DeltaRex-G. 100% of ticket sales will be go to the foundation, whose mission is to expedite the development of gene-targeted cancer therapies and other diseases. Abrera, a native of South Pasadena, joined American Ballet Theatre in 1996. She was promoted to soloist in 2001 and to principal in 2015, making her ABT’s first Filipino-American Principal dancer. Some of her roles at ABT include Juliet, Giselle, Aurora, and Tatiana, among others. After working up all the ranks of Boston Ballet, Whiteside joined ABT in 2012, becoming a Principal in 2013. Some of his roles at ABT include Romeo, Albrecht, Prince Siegfried, and Solor. He also choreographs frequently, with his works shown at Vail Dance Festival and ABT's fall season 2019. The evening’s program highlights the artistry and athleticism of the performers and includes a range of classical and contemporary repertoire, including works by August Bournonville, Marius Petipa, and Amy Hall Garner. ABT Studio Company Artistic Director Sascha Radetsky will serve as the evening’s emcee. Radetsky danced with ABT as a soloist and with the Dutch National Ballet as a principal. He is well known for his appearances in films and on television, such as in Center Stage and Flesh and Bone. The performance will be held at Little Tokyo's Aratani Theatre: 244 San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, California. Curtain at 7pm. Tickets and information: http://bit.ly/ArtistsForAveni.
