Jagannath Kishore College Purulia ESTD.-1948 JAGANNATH KISHORE COLLEGE PURULIA (Undergraduate & Postgraduate) Affiliated to SIDHO-KANHO-BIRSHA UNIVERSITY P.O. & Dist.: Purulia. PIN: 723101 e-mail: [email protected] / [email protected] website: www.jkcprl.ac.in Ph. : (03252) 222416 / 228744 Fax : (03252) 228744 NAAC Accredited (3rd Cycle) PROSPECTUS – 2020 1 Jagannath Kishore College, Purulia The College: A Brief Background The district of Manbhum under Bihar, now the district of Purulia in West Bengal, was lagging behind in every sphere of society, not to talk of education. The first modern school, according to Henry Rickets, was established in Purulia in 1853 in form of an English School. Water flew down Kangsabati for the decades. India won her freedom in 1947, and Jagannath Kishore College started its journey on 22nd July, 1948 as a private college affiliated to Patna Univer- sity, thanks to the enterprising efforts of people from all walks of society in Purulia. Jaharlal Basu, Jatin Dutta, Shyam Sundar Sinha Mahapatra, Dhiren Bhattacharya, Jagadish Mukherjee, Ashok Choudhury, Manmath Kuiry and others felt it to be an abiding necessity, as the proficient students from this economically challenged area could hardly afford to pursue higher education going over to Ranchi, Hajaribagh, Patna, Bankura or Calcutta. The dream of these enthusiastic people came true when Gokul Kumari Devi, the widow of Sri Jagannath Kishor Lal Sing Deo of the Kashipur Raj, donated a fund of One lakh rupees for the foundation of a centre for higher education in Purulia. Shankarlal Singhania, an eminent businessman of the time, contributed an amount of six- teen thousand rupees. A considerable amount of funds was also raised in form of public donation. The college was named after Late Jagannath Kishorlal Sing Deo, and it started with 109 students admitted to I.A. (Intermediate in Arts) standard with classes being held simulta- neously in the rooms provided by Haripada Sahitya Mandir and Union Club, Purulia. Later on the classes were shifted to Purulia Zilla School for a period, and, in the meantime, the college building was started at Ketika, Purulia at a land donated partly by Sri Nilkanthanarayan Singha, the provincial Lord of Nowagarh who provided 27 bighas, and partly at the adjascent land of 7.5 bighas donated by Shashadhar Choudhury and his co- sharers. The college functioned as a private college till it was recognized by the then Govern- ment of Bihar as a Govt. aided institution in 1951. The foundation stone for the present Arts Building of the main campus was laid by Sri Krishna Singh, the then Chief Minister of Bihar on 9th September, 1953, and the inauguration of this building was officiated by Sri Anugraha Narayan Singh, the then Finance Minister of Bihar, on 10th October the same year. The district of Purulia emerged on 1st November, 1956 after Bengal annexation, and the college came under Calcutta University. J.K. College was affiliated to The University of Burdwan in 1961, and in 1963 the college was taken over as a sponsored college by the Government of West Bengal. No less significant is the fact that J.K. College came under newly established Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University (SKB), Purulia from 2010. The campus office of this new University was J.K. College, and the building of the University is built at a site at Ranchi road, on a land of some approximately 40 bighas donated by J.K. College to the SKB University, Purulia for this noble project in the year 2011. This is how J.K. College passed through sunshine and shower for 72 years to be now recognized as the premier institution in higher education not only in Purulia, but one of the best in West Bengal. The college was accredited by NAAC in 2005, 2014 and in 2020. Location and Campus: J.K. College is advantageously located in the district town of Purulia with latitude 23019’ N, and longitude 86022’ . College campus is situated at Ketika which is in Ward No. 9 of Purulia Municipality. With a spacious campus of more than 50 bighas, well fortified, with big classrooms and wide corridors, a huge auditorium, gardens and ponds, hostels and a vast play ground with well-con-nected cinder-path. J.K. College is 1.5 k.m. from both Purulia Railway Station in South Eastern Railway and Purulia Bus Stand, enjoined with 2 the township through the bypass that connects itself with NH 32. J.K. College, Purulia boasts of well-equipped Central Library and Laboratories, a recently built Language Lab, three m o de rn E-class rooms, and 24 hours water- circulation system and generator facilities for the main campus. With adequate sanitary system, big trees and medical unit, the college makes no compromise with hygienic safe guard. Administrative Building, Teachers' Common Room, Recreation Room, Guest House, Non-teaching Common Room, Students' Common Room for both Boys and Girls, Students’ Cheap Store, Canteen, Yoga & Meditation Room, well equipped Gym for both boys and girls, Students’ Wellness Centre, J.K. College campus is ideal for a budding mind to develop naturally. The river Kangsabati (popularly known as Kansai) is not far away, and the distant glimpse of the peaks of Ayodhya hills enhance the effect of the beauty of the campus. Aims and Objectives: The logo of J.K. College, Purulia is 'Shraddhaban Lavate Gnyanam' meaning 'those who are full of respect and humanity can alone achieve true wisdom'. The pursuit of knowledge, theoretical and practical, technical and spiritual, is meant for the full efflorescence of the personality. We believe in the ethos of Swami Vivekananda that education is manifestation of the perfection already in man. We believe in quality, and we emphasize the importance of value-based education with an aim of enabling our students not just to became competitive in a worldly way, but also to make them responsive to and responsible enough for this global village. • ANALYSIS of GROWTH PATTERN of LAC INDUSTRY Jyoti Prakash Mandal* Jaydeb Sarkhel**
Vidyasagar University Journal of Commerce Vol. 20, 2015/ISSN 0973-5917 ANALYSIS OF GROWTH PATTERN OF LAC INDUSTRY Jyoti Prakash Mandal* Jaydeb Sarkhel** Abstract In order to study the growth pattern of the lac industry, we have measured trend rate of growth of production by taking three categories of firms namely big size firms, medium size firms and small size firms. For this, prominent five manufacturing firms under each category have been selected. During the period under consideration (i.e. 2000-01 to 2010-11) the production of five big manufacturers had an annual growth of 12.94%. The rate of profit for the big firms remained more or less stable during study period. During the period under consideration (i.e. 2000-01 to 2010-11) the production of five medium manufacturers had an annual growth rate of 2.13%. In respect of five selected small size firms for the period from 2000- 01 to 2010-11, it showed a positive but distinctly declining rate of profit. The trend rate of production over the period has been as high as 2.34%. If we consider the analysis by taking all the 15 firms together, then the analysis will give us the integrated picture of lac industry. From that we can derive the growth pattern of lac industry as a whole. The production of lac manufacturers grew at 10 percent per annum. Key words : Lac Industry of Purulia District (R); Big Size Firms, Medium Size Firms, Small Size Firms, C8); Growth Pattern (C2)Trend Rate of Production(C4) 1. Introduction Lac and its products have a hoary past in the soil of Purulia district.

The L211L numbers of a graph G, are denoted by λ2,1,1(G) which is the difference between largest and smallest labels used in L211L. In this article, for circular-arc graph (CAG) G we have proved that λ2,1,1(G) ≤ 6∆ − 4, where ∆ represents the degree of the graph. Beside this we have designed a polynomial time algorithm to label a CAG satisfying the conditions of L211L. The time complexity of the algorithm is O(n∆2), where n is the number of nodes of the graph G.
