It was called "Victory of the Daleks". This graphic novel has it's roots in Doctor Who: The Dalek Project of the classic Dalek stories. As I said it reminded me of "Victory of the Daleks". It also gives a nod to "Power of the Daleks", as seemingly helpless Da What would happen if the Daleks tried to influence the outcome of one of the World wars? It also gives a nod to Doctor Who: The Dalek Project of the Daleks", as seemingly helpless Daleks convince unsuspecting humans to help them build more Daleks under the pretense that it will help win the war. The setting Doctor Who: The Dalek Project part of the story in a country house is a nod to "Evil of the Daleks" The story itself, would have felt at home either in Doctor Who: The Dalek Project Doctor Who monthly comic, or as part of the comic strip series in Doctor Who magazine. Something similar to the Fourth Doctor comic strips, as The Doctor travels on his own without any of the television companions; instead he picks up help along the way throughout the course of the story. The drama comes from The Doctor having to convince various humans how dangerous the Daleks really are. Can humanity see through the Dalek lies and defeat them before humanity is exterminated? Oct 16, Wanli Cheng rated it liked it. This graphic novel was interesting. I really like the style of the drawing, and I liked the style of the story, too. The story is not like a hero story, which uses the special power to kill the bad guy. This book is more about a clever doctor, who used his brilliant mind to solve some problems, find the evidence from old time, and defeat the evil. The book is exciting. I saw that the son of professor was killed, but rebuilt into machines by the DALEKs, and the old man in the hall's wife was kille This graphic novel was interesting. I saw that the son of professor was killed, but rebuilt into machines by the DALEKs, and the old man in the hall's wife was killed, and the gardeners were killed by the robots too. I felt sad about it, and thought the robots are so evil and must be destroyed. The story didn't move on really fast, but I can remember every little bit in the story. After reading this book, I can't believe such things happened, and can't believe there are actually such terrible machines which use the weak spot in human's heart, and control the human to work for them. But suddenly i thought this might actually happen in real life, too. There are some bad friends, who only use people for their purpose, and while you are not as useful as usual, they put you on the side, and never talked to you again. So we should read the friend clearly, and not making friends with these kind of people, because we are like tools to Doctor Who: The Dalek Project. Also, we shouldn't be the people who use others like they are tools. We should be kind to others, and help our friends indeed. And that's what i think about this novel. Jul 09, Amy Hawthorne rated it really liked Doctor Who: The Dalek Project Shelves: I love Doctor Doctor Who: The Dalek Project And this graphic novel felt so much like the show it was great. It has the classic Doctor Who tropes like the witty doctor, courageous self sacrificing companions, near escapes, and of course the Daleks! I couldn't give this any lower than 4 stars because it was so well paced and exciting and fun, just because it's small graphic novel doesn't mean it isn't worthy. Book one of the Cram athon complete! Oct 20, Sarah rated it it was amazing Shelves: owned. As a Whovian, I find it hard to believe that I would come across a Doctor Who work of any kind and not love it. However, that being said, this review isn't biased. It's simply fact. First of all, Matt Smith is one of my favorite Doctor Who: The Dalek Project, so that already had me hooked, but also, the Daleks are one of my favorite villains in the Universe. I loved the story and the way the dialogue seemed to capture the same quirky energy and character of Matt Smith's Doctor. But I think the thing I loved most about this particular graphic novel was how vibrant the colors were. I've read a lot of graphic novels and the artwork and coloring in this one was just beautiful. Jul 26, Lori rated it it was amazing Shelves: comic- graphic-novel. Justin Richards and Mike Collins have created this cool graphic novel. The images are clever, well detailed and compelling. The bubble text placement works well. I enjoy history, and appreciate that there is some non-fiction contained in this read. This novel is full of action and uses Dr Who's self deprecating humor. The Dalek Project is Doctor Who: The Dalek Project one for the fans of Dr. Sep 12, David T rated it liked it. I knew coming in form The Only Good Dalek how poor these comics would be. Though this was a step up form The Only Good Dalek. Still nothing was explained and nothing added up. What I could grasp was the Daleks have started nearly every war in history. This on its own is stupid. This one possessed much better illustrations and was still not afraid to be violent. But Doctor Who: The Dalek Project randomness and pure sensation of oddness got the Doctor Who: The Dalek Project of it. I would not recommend The Dalek Project Horrible Feb 26, Sassafras rated it liked it Shelves: ms-moman-s-ya-shelfboy-books-to-lovegeeky- nerdy-fandom-stuffcomics-graphic-novels-manga.

Julia Franco First Year Seminar Science Fiction Tuesday 9:30-10:45/ Friday 9:30-12:15 Allegories in Time and Space1 On November 23rd 1963, the BBC launched their new TV show Doctor Who. They did not anticipate the cultural phenomenon.what would grow out of their low budget show with cheesy special effects. British children were enchanted by William Hartnal’s Doctor and his companions: Ian, Barbara and Susan, and gleefully scared by the fearsome salt shakers of doom: The Daleks. The stories were anywhere from 4 to 12 parts, each around 25 minutes and were serialized weekly. But lying beneath the light hearted self resolving stories ran deeper elements reflecting attitudes towards history and current events. Deeply rooted in the series was the allegory to World War II. The Daleks take the place of the Nazis and the Time Lords therefore fill the opposing role of the Alliance. At many points, the story reads as if it is a future history of what would have happen if the Nazis had won World War II. This tapped into the subconscious fears of the nation as the war was still fresh in the minds of the parents of Britain. But also tied into the contemporary fears of the Cold War and the Soviet threat. These allegorical elements along with the characters in Doctor Who, such as the Daleks and the Time Lords, that correspond to actual historical events and people make the show what it is today: timeless and timely. The Daleks would not exist if not for one man- Terry Nation.

  • The Eleventh Hour
THE ELEVENTH HOUR 6 THE ELEVENTH HOUR Chapter One THE ELEVENTH HOUR Written by: Steven Moffat Directed by: Adam Smith First broadcast: 3 April 2010 “What have you got for me this time?” Running at 65 minutes, the opening episode of Series Five, The Eleventh Hour , covers a lot of ground. Its major task is to introduce a new Doctor, in the form of actor Matt Smith, whose debut had been awaited since the announcement of his casting in January 2009 and his brief appearance at the conclusion of The End of Time – Part Two , broadcast on 1 January 2010. As well as introducing us to the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor, this episode is also our first encounter with a new companion, Amelia Pond, or Amy as she is formally known throughout the series. The episode opens with a pre-titles sequence. This was shot after the production block for this episode had wrapped and was separately produced by Nikki Wilson and directed by Jonny Campbell, who had been working on the production of the episodes The Vampires of Venice and Vincent and the Doctor . The pre-titles pick up directly from the conclusion of The End of Time , with the TARDIS exploding, in flames, and hurtling back to Earth whilst carrying the newly regenerated Doctor. Before the new title sequence crashes in, this opening clearly operates as a ‘handing of the baton’ from one era of the show, that overseen by Russell T. Davies, to the next, the newest as produced by Steven Moffat. With an action sequence that shows the Doctor clinging on to the TARDIS for dear life as it spirals out of control across the cityscape of London at night, Moffat here clearly desires to assure viewers that they are watching the same series that had made its triumphant return back in 2005.
