Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar is moving from its current location across from the mall to another Bellevue location just a few miles away. Peterson Construction has begun building the 6,300-square-foot Applebee’s at 8100 High- way 100 in the Shoppes on the Harpeth retail center at a cost of $1.5 million. The restaurant is scheduled to open between mid-November and Dec. 1. Applebee’s anticipates the move will result in much higher traffic at the restau- rant. “We’re just very excited to move and get a new location,” says Amanda Baugh, the res- taurant’s general manager. “This area with the mall closed, there’s not many people who want to eat over here. The Mitchell move over there will definitely be an increase in revenue.” Metro Councilmember Bo Mitchell isn’t wor- ried that other businesses close to the nearly vacant Bellevue Center mall will also decide to move. He says local real estate developer GBT Realty Corp.’s recent report on progress on plans for the mall’s redevelopment and an an- nouncement in coming weeks about retail and New mall in 2013 restaurant tenants for the mall should provide encouragement for existing businesses in the mall area. “I think the excitement’s going to grow and Restaurants, people are going to want to be here instead of moving away,” Mitchell notes. library might GBT hopes to have the revitalized Bellevue Center property completed by 2013. arrive earlier A couple of building permits (one for a kitch- en and bath store and one for a real estate of- fice) pulled in August for the Highway 70 cor- By Bill Lewis Correspondent ridor indicate businesses are still attracted to that area.
