LOGISTICAL NOTE

This note provides important logistical information regarding your participation in the 2015 Environmental emergencies Forum (EEF) in Oslo, Norway, from Monday 1 to Wednesday 3 June 2015. Kindly note the following:

Venue The Forum will take place at Scandic Park, Kongeveien 26, 0787 Oslo, Norway. Phone: (+47) 22 92 20 00 E-mail: [email protected] Website: http://www.holmenkollenparkhotel.no/

Access to Scandic Holmenkollen Park Arrival by car: Follow signs to Majorstuen/. After the Smestad junction, turn right and follow signs for Holmenkollen. Follow this road to the famous Holmenkollen ski jump arena. The hotel is situated next to the arena in Kongeveien 26. Free outdoor parking 200 meters from the main entrance.

Arrival by air/train/metro: From Gardermoen airport take the Airport Express Train to Oslo S (ticket can be purchased at the airport for NOK 180 one-way (equivalent to approximately USD 25; approx. time: 20 minutes). From Oslo S station, you can take metro line No 1 direction and get off at the stop Holmenkollen (single ticket NOK 30; time: 20 minutes) before walking 10 min uphill to the hotel. Follow the signs towards the Holmenkollen ski arena. (see map on page 4) (If you prefer to walk downhill, get off at the next stop, Voksenlia.)

Taxis Taxis from Oslo Airport to Holmenkollen Park Hotel take approximately 50 minutes, cost approx NOK 1000 (equivalent USD 130).

Hotels and Accommodation in and around Oslo Participants are responsible to arrange their own hotel bookings for their stay in Oslo. Early booking of accommodation is advised. Rooms have been reserved in the Scandic Holmenkollen Park Hotel, however availabilities for all participants are not guaranteed. Note: The venue is 20 minutes from Oslo centre – participants are encouraged to stay at the hotel.

Badges and Registration Registration will take place on Monday 1 June starting from 11:00 a.m. in the hotel lobby.

Website and documents All the documents used during the Forum will be available on the website: https://www.humanitarianresponse.info/en/topics/environment/event/2015-environmental- emergencies-forum USB sticks including documents and presentations will be distributed to participants on the last day of the Forum.

Meals Breakfast will be served from 7:00am until 8:30am. Coffee breaks will be provided on all days of the meeting (morning and afternoon). On Monday 1 June, a light lunch will be provided prior to the opening of the conference. An official reception will be organized in the evening after the Green Star Awards ceremony. On Tuesday 2 June, lunch will be provided (buffet in the restaurant), and an official dinner will be provided in the evening. On Wednesday 3 June, light sandwich lunch will be provided after the closing.

Language The official language during the meeting will be in English. French interpretation will be provided throughout the Forum.

Dress code We encourage you to wear something green at the Green Star Awards ceremony on Monday evening. On Tuesday evening, the Norwegian government is hosting a formal dinner on Tuesday 2 June. During the rest of the Forum, dress code is business casual.

Internet Free wireless Internet access will be available during the meeting throughout the hotel.

Visas Participants are responsible for arranging their own visas as required. A list of Norwegian embassies and consulates abroad can be found at: http://www.norway.info/ Please note that it is essential to submit visa applications as soon as possible. Currency and payments Currency The Norwegian currency is Norwegian Kroner (NOK). Coins are circulated in the following denominations: 1 krone, 5 kroner, 10 kroner and 20 kroner. Notes are circulated in the following denominations: 50 kroner, 100 kroner, 200 kroner, 500 kroner and 1000 kroner. In Oslo, you can exchange currency in the tourist information offices (exchange into NOK) or in an exchange bureau. Approximate conversion: 1 USD = 7.5 NOK; 100 NOK = 12 Euros

Banks Most banks in Oslo are open from 9.00 to around 15.30 on weekdays and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Some banks are open until 17.00 on Thursdays. Credit cards Visa, Eurocard, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express are widely accepted cards in Norway, but do note that some supermarkets and petrol stations do not accept credit cards. ATMs ATMs are to be found around banks and in many busy public places, such as at the airports, in train stations, around banks and in shopping centers.
