I Am Shayanti Ghoshal

I am funny and emotional I wonder where I will be in 27 years I hear my family and my friends encouraging me with my talents I see my enormous mansion I want to be a famous singer.

I am funny and emotional.

Shayati, 12 yrs, is a 7th grader in Buljan Middle School.

Coffee Farah Billah

Without those coffee shop lights, Brisk and cold, those tea sipping nights, I want to see the moon sleep, That way my morning will feel just right.

Without those coffee stained tables, Like dipping my fingers into children’s fables, When my milk and cookies were ever present, It made me feel like I can do more than I was ever able.

Without that coffee colored sofa seat suede, Not so thrilling library late nights made, Those books were like bomb shelters in those days, Back then moments were crescendos, they would never fade.

Without my coffee leather jacket, Old films would wave to me and I’d just walk past it, Nobody ever told me that I would grow old so fast, Dreams and memories were the same, neither of them lasted.

Without my mother’s coffee bean morning smell, The silence forced me to watch as my curtains fell, Everything fit in a briefcase and the color was gone, And the moon never went to sleep, but you could never tell.

Farah Billah, 17 years, is a senior in Mira Loma High School.
