Masterpiece Marks 50 Years of Incredible Television! HE LONGEST-RUNNING PRIMETIME DRAMA SERIES on TV celebrates its 50th year with an exciting Tline-up of new stories! The iconic PBS series that sparked America’s infatuation with British television, Masterpiece is renowned for consistently high-quality productions and has amassed an impressive 83 Primetime Emmys and several other awards. This anniversary season carries on the tradition of excellence with several productions, including a new adaptation chronicling the heartwarming and humorous adventures of a young country vet: All Creatures Great and Small Premieres Sunday, January 10, at 9:00 pm Re-airs Sundays at 2:00 pm James Herriot’s charming adventures as a country vet come to life in an unforgettable new adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small. Based on a series of beloved books by British veterinary surgeon James Alfred Wight (better known by his pseudonym James Herriot), the story introduces the vet, now world renowned, for his inspiring humor, compassion, and love of life. The new seven-part series opens in 1937. Hired fresh out of Glasgow Veterinary College into the rural practice at Skeldale House in England’s Yorkshire Dales, James discovers that treating the animals is as much about treating their owners, and the Dales’ farmers are a tough crowd to please. As he explores his new trade, James also gets to know his newly formed dysfunctional family: his chaotic and erratic boss Siegfried Farnon, his wayward brother Tristan, and the shrewd housekeeper Mrs. Hall. When local beauty Helen Alderson attracts James’s attention he finds another, more enduring reason to stay in the Dales. Newcomer Nicholas Ralph stars as James Herriot. Samuel West plays Siegfried Farnon, the unconventional, grumbling veterinarian who (reluctantly) takes a chance on hiring Herriott. Anna Madeley stars as Mrs. Hall, the housekeeper and kindly matriarch of Skeldale House, where Farnon and Herriot reside. Siegfried’s charismatic younger brother Tristan is portrayed by Callum Wood- house, and Rachel Shenton stars as Helen Alderson, a farmer’s daughter who helps manage her family’s farmstead. Diana Rigg plays Mrs. Pumphrey, the haughty owner of the spoiled Pekingese Tricki-Woo. This new All Creatures pre- serves the rich and uplifting spirit, tone and values of Herriot’s iconic characters and stories, and will bring to life his sharply observed, entertaining and incredibly funny tales of country life in the North of England for a modern audience.
