After the first phase of deadly pandemic COVID-19, Chand Bagh School re-opened on September 15, 2020. Despite challenges of COVID-19 SOPs all faculty members and students, quite enthusiastically, participated in all academic, co- curricular, sports along with social skills and community service activities. Students active engagement in a robust on-campus-school-life enables them to shed off the extra put on by them and also highlights the importance of boarders’ life. This unique feature of boarding schools generates positive trends among students and they take volte-face shift from endless use of electronic gadgets to the useful physical activities that help them remain mentally fresh to take on academic responsibilities.

I would like to draw, our worthy parents in particular and other parents in general, their attention towards regulating the use of mobiles and other gadgets by our children. We, their elders, need to provide positive alternatives to our youth to bring them out of their self-made shells of online gaming and uncontrolled use of social media throughout nights and subsequently staying in beds during day time. Undoubtedly, there is no better alternative than physical activities like swimming, horse riding along with all traditional sports that Chand Bagh School and other residential schools offer.

We as a nation need to come out of Board Exam numbers and repetitive rituals being carried out at Matric and F.Sc level that have not served the national purpose of harbouring creative and well nurtured minds to achieve something substantial in the fields of science and technology. For promoting critical and analytical thinking among our students we need to alter our examination system. Without changing the prevailing examination system in our country it would be impossible for teachers to change pedagogical techniques in class rooms. Concept based education can bring the coveted changes in our educational system and also give our youth the required space to focus on healthy outdoor activities freeing themselves from the chains of rote learning.

2 CHAND BAGH SCHOOL Editor’s Statement

Learning means no boundaries in acquiring, understanding and displaying the cultured knowledge gained from the outer and inner world. In 2020- the year in which uncertainty reigned the globe- our lives drifted to topsy- turvey mode. Presenting this News link in the days when we are still fighting the unseen war was a Herculean task. However our CBStians displayed their unrivaled, exuberant and frisky souls the moment they get back to not so normal routine. We have gathered a display of their diligence, determination and devotion through this issue.

In this News link we are presenting the academic, literary and sports based activities performed by our students in the shortest span of 2 months in which they stayed within the campus. It is a reflection and flashback of our students as well; which they would love to rewind and relish. We recognize, applaud and appreciate our young “musketeers” in their proficiencies. Chand Bagh School provides facilities to its students to display their brilliances and expertise to their best. We don’t provide wings to our students but we definitely support them in their flight and take pride in seeing them rising above acme. It is always a matter of great pride for us seeing our boys after few years with a complete shift from all idiosyncrasies to their absolute compassion, commitment, sensibility and grace along with the identity of being “reliable”.

Being editor-in-chief for the first time in Chand bagh School I humbly pay my regards to principal Ch. Muhammad Afzal for entrusting, supporting and guiding us on each step. I also want to present my heartiest gratitude to the very few people I call my patrons for pushing me forward whenever I thought of slanting back.

Thank you with the hope that you would like our effort.

4 CHAND BAGH SCHOOL Online Classes

During the recent unpredictable Covid-19 Lockdown days, CBS tried to remain in contact with students with the help of different mediums. Chand Bagh School in this regard was among the very few pioneering institutions who immediately devised patterns by creating WhatsApp Class groups, YouTube Channels and later MS teams from 1st April 2020-exactly after 13 days of educational institutions’ lockdown. In this way, CBS’ academic team kept paddling students to remain active in studies during their self-assumed “eat, drink and be merry” days.

Welcome Party

Along with Students and teachers who welcomed themselves back to New Normal routine, CBS arranged a welcome dinner on 15th October for 112 new students who had recently joined this institution. Students reached Muin Hall with forlorn and lost expressions perhaps knowing not how to react at first. Later, Saturday dinner created its symphony and attraction with music and tempting aroma of Bar-B-Que. Principal Chand Bagh School heartily welcomed all the students and shared school’s expected code of conduct with them. On their way back they were enviously starred by “not-so-new” CBStians who missed the Bar- B-Que night.

Skills Program

Chand Bagh School has always tried to teach its students self-reliance; not only in taking major decisions of life but also in learning “life-living-skills”. This year Skills programs’ team added English and Urdu Literature as a skill in this skills’ menu. The basic idea of adding this academic genre as skill was to familiarize students with the depth and beauty of literature so that they could bring novelty and creativity in their writings. Students consider it a well-organized conspiracy to keep them away from their Mobiles for few more moments and teachers misuse this “law of connection” to make them a bit more skilled.
