Monday, 30 September 2019 Security Council [archived video] 8628th meeting The situation in the Middle East The meeting was presided over by His Excellency Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The agenda was adopted without objection. The President invited the representatives of Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the Syrian Arab Republic and Turkey to participate in the meeting in accordance with rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure. The President invited Mr. Geir Pedersen, Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Syria, to participate in the meeting in accordance with rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure. The Council heard a briefing by Mr. Pedersen.
