In 2009, UConn had two players make the post-season All-League Team (Pierre LePage and George Springer), making it the only program in the country to boast more than one. LePage (Bourne Braves) and Springer (Wareham Gatemen) were honored with other awards as well. LePage was awarded the league’s Silva Sportsmanship Award and the 10th Player Award, while Springer was awarded the Gatemen’s Silvia Bigelow Award, given annually to the team’s most outstanding position player.
