The Wonder of the End Times The Wonder of the End Times The bible often speaks of the end times. One in 27 verses in the bible deals with the end times and 23 out of 27 books in the NT talks about it. In the Old Testament, there are 1,845 references to Christ Second Coming, where 17 books give it prominence. For every prophecy in the Bible concerning Christ first coming, there are 8 which look forward to His second coming! You will be surprised to find out that the Second Coming is the most prophesied event in the entire Bible. What will happen at the end? Time of Tribulation In Matthew 24:21-22 Jesus said “…there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. 22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.” The prophet Daniel described this time of tribulation as a “time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then…” (12:1). It will be seven years pure tribulation. Devil will go on a rampage with fury because his time will be short (Revelations 13:5). Read the signs of the times The bible is very clear that no one knows the day or hour when Jesus is coming back. But we are told there are sign we should look for. Paul “Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3). There are four signs we need to give attention. Sign of deception The first thing we find is that before the coming of the Lord, there will be a great falling away. He calls it “apostasy”. Jesus mentioned the same thing would take place when he warned us to “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in My name, saying, I [Jesus] am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:4-5). This worldwide deception will lead to persecution of Christians. Even today, approximately four of five people persecuted for their religious beliefs are Christians. Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world and it's accelerating at a rapid rate. Today, 1 in 9 Christians suffer high persecution. In the top 50 persecuting countries 1,266 churches were attacked in 2018. Places like Vietnam, Myanmar, China and North Korea all saw increases in stricter state control of religious rights. Iraq they had fallen from 1.5 million Christians before 2003 to less than 120,000 today. What's is at the core of their fallen away? Delusion takes over the world to confirm what was in their hearts. What was in their hearts? II Thessalonians 2:10 says they didn't "LOVE THE TRUTH" It literally reads "did not welcome the truth". Who then will overcome? Those who love God more than life. We will see the rise of the Antichrist before the coming of the Lord. He is described as “the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.” (II Thessalonians 2:9-11). Those who follow and pledge alliance to the Antichrist will bear the mark of the beast the number 666”. In the bible, the number 6 is the number of man. The number 7 is the number for God. No matter how much the Antichrist tries, he falls short of the perfection and greatness of God. Those who wish to purchase food or supplies, will need to have the mark of the beast. The Antichrist will control the basic necessities of lie. Today, we have the technology to In May 2016, at the United Nations Headquarters in NY, the inaugural ID2020 Summit brought together over 400 people to discuss how to provide a unique digital identity to everyone on the planet, including the 1.5 billion people living without any form of recognized identification. The Antichrist will have a global monopoly on the economy through a cashless society. The apostle John first says “I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.” (Revelations 6:2). This is a description of the Antichrist. John depicts him having a “bow”, but with no arrows. This is symbolic of conquering via diplomacy. He will go about peacemaking but with a hidden intention of world domination. The Antichrist will rule for 42 months over the earth, though he will appear before ruling over the world. For three and a half years he “was given authority to continue [literally “make war”] for forty-two months” (Rev 13:5). In fact the Anti- Christ “was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation“ (Rev 13:7). The appearance of the Antichrist will resemble the speed of a leopard, the solid strength of a bear, devouring power of a lion. Revelations 13:2 says about the Antichrist, who is call “the beast”, " And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority." Same animals mentioned in the book of Daniel for the four greatest world empires. He will have the combined power of all four. The Antichrist will do miracles from the underworld and darkness to deceive people. We are told in 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 that “the coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing." Satan is going to try to do every possible to copy Jesus. Jesus and his followers did and continue to do miracles according to the power of the Holy Spirit. But Satan will “performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven, to the earth in full view of the people” in order to deceiving until bowing their allegiance to Satan, the Antichrist and the False Prophet. Sign of disputes Jesus said “you will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains” (Matthew 24:6-7). The early pains of the coming of the Lord will be an intensification of wars. It is disturbing to know that 50% of all research scientist is devoted today to arms development. We currently have about 4,000 pounds of explosive for every person living. John goes on to say “then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword” (Revelation 6:3-4). The “large sword” is describing a large weapon which causes great damage. Today, we have weapons of mass destructions that can affect the entire world like never before. Sign of devastation John the apostle said, “8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.” (Revelation 6:8). The pale horse is the last horse of the four horses in Revelations 6. We are told in this passage ¼ of the world population will die at the beginning of tribulation. This is a staggering number of people dying. In WWII 1 in 40 die as the result of the war. Later during the great tribulation another 1/3 of the world’s population will die. There will also be pestilence. We know today rats carry around 35 diseases and have been the carriers of diseases with a combined death more than all of the wars put together. For example, in the fourteen century, one third of Europeans were killed by the bubonic plague, carried by fleas which were in rats. In the 4th century AD., Tiphus killed 200 million people. This passage is probably also describing biological warfare, we can cause entire large city be killed in just a week. Today we are experiencing the direct effects of Global Warming. As temperatures rise and the metabolism of marine animals sped up, the warmer waters can not hold enough oxygen for them to survive.

  • End Time Chronology from Jesus in the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) Shawn Nelson
November 5, 2017 End Time Chronology from Jesus in the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) Shawn Nelson (1) How does Matthew 24 fit into our on-going study? The view we’ve been teaching (Premillennialism) says there will be a literal world leader (antichrist) who is able to establish peace treaty in the Middle East between Israel and her neighbors for 7 years (Dan. 9:24-27). In the middle of the 7 years he walks into the temple in Jerusalem, takes away the sacrifices (Dan. 12:11), and declares himself to be God (Dan. 9:27; 11:31; Matt. 24:15; Mark 13:14; 2 Thess. 2:3-4). He forces everybody to worship him (2 Thess. 2:4; Rev. 13:15) and requires them to have a mark in order to buy or sell anything anywhere in the world (Rev. 13:16). Matthew 24 helps us see that Jesus’ taught the above scenario too. Jesus mentions all of the following: the existence of the nation of Israel, the temple in Jerusalem, the antichrist, tribulation, the second coming (and possibly rapture). The Temple to Be Destroyed 24 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? [the Jerusalem temple] Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” The Disciples’ Two Questions 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? [temple being destroyed] And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” The Tribulation 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.

  • I. the Work of the Two-Horn Beast of the Earth (Rev. 13:11-15)
The Revelation of Jesus Christ The TRINITY of EVIL: Satan, the Antichrist (Beast of the Sea), and the False Prophet (Beast of the Earth) Revelation 13:11-18 Introduction In last week's study, we were introduced to the "beast of the sea", who is identified as the Antichrist. The Antichrist is empowered by Satan, and eventually rules as a political and military genius over the earth during the second half of the 70th Week of Daniel. The Antichrist will rule the world as the leader of the revived Roman Empire. In today's passage, we are introduced to the "beast of the earth", who is soon identified as the "False Prophet". Whereas the Antichrist is a political and military leader, the False Prophet is a religious leader. The reader is now aware of Satan's unholy trinity. Satan is the counterfeit of God the Father, the Antichrist is the blasphemous counterfeit of the Son, and the False Prophet is the deceptive counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. Like Ahab and Jezebel joined the religious priests of Baal, so the Antichrist and the False Prophet, combine political and religious power to rule over the world. I. The Work of the Two-Horn Beast of the Earth (Rev. 13:11-15) 11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. 12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who live on it worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.

Revelation Notes 2020 - Laurelwood 85 "The Heart Response to a Perfect Earth" Revelation 20 After the tribulation on the earth and the return of the King to the earth to destroy all the kings of the earth, Jesus will set up His earthly kingdom and rule over the whole world in perfect conditions on the earth. JESUS CHRIST WILL REIGN ON THE EARTH FOR 1000 YEARS, 20:1-15 The transition between Revelation 19 and Revelation 20 is the transition to the fulfillment of the Abrahamic contract and the completion of the kingdom program of God. The kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of our Lord (Revelation 11:15), the King of Kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16). He will reign for 1000 years and then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom up to the Father (1 Corinthians 15:23-28) so that God may be all in all. Excursus 1: Review of Eschatological Frameworks Three theological grids: the postmillennial, the amillennial, and the premillennial take their names and point of departure from Revelation 20:1-8, where Christ is said to reign 1,000 years, a period which has been called the “millennium.” The word “millennium” comes from the Latin word for 1000. The Greek word for “1000” is χιλιοι chilioi, from which chiliasm is derived. For further study of these three different theological positions, see J. Dwight Pentecost, Things to Come, chapter 22 (XXII). A. Postmillennialism The postmillennial school interprets the millennium to be a period (may be a distinct 1000 year period) of great spiritual blessing fulfilling millennial promises accomplished through preaching the gospel to everyone.

  • The End Times
The End Times Today, more than any other time in history, events are being played out on the world stage that will bring an end to our current times. These are more commonly referred to as The End Times or The Last Days. World events such as the rebirth of Israel in 1948 and the regathering of the Jewish people back into the land, conflicts and tensions in the Middle East, an increase of wickedness and evil, an increase of knowledge, nations that are blatantly anti-Israel and the instability of Russia as well as economic and technological advances that make possible events described in the Bible, that 100 years ago would have been inconceivable. These signs exhort us to be like the five wise virgins in (Matthew 25:1-13) that kept theirs lamps full and their wicks trimmed as they waited and watched for their Lords return. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for not discerning the times (Matthew 16:1-3) and to the disciples He spoke the parable of the fig tree about discerning the times (Luke 21:29-33). Let’s take a closer look at some of the signs that point to the soon coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We see leaps in technological advances such as nuclear missile strike capability and satellite technologies that allow us to see real time events halfway around the world which were impossible one-hundred years ago. Calls for a global economic system, a “world currency” and a one world government also demonstrate that we are closer to the end times then ever before.

The Trinity in Scripture Gerhard Pfandl Biblical Research Institute The word Trinity (Lat. Trinitas, Òtri-unityÓ or Òthree-in-onenessÓ) is not found in the Bible (neither is the word ÒincarnationÓ), but the teaching it de- scribes is clearly contained in Scripture. Briefly defined, the doctrine of the Trinity stands for the concept that ÒGod eternally exists as three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and each person is fully God, and there is one God.Ó1 God himself is a mysteryÑhow much more the incarnation or the Trinity! Nevertheless, even though we may not be able to comprehend logically the vari- ous aspects of the Trinity, we need to try to understand as best we can the scriptural teaching regarding it. All attempts to explain the Trinity will fall short, Òespecially when we reflect on the relation of the three persons to the divine essence . all analogies fail us and we become deeply conscious of the fact that the Trinity is a mystery far beyond our comprehension. It is the incomprehensi- ble glory of the Godhead.Ó2 Therefore, we do well to admit that Òman cannot comprehend it and make it intelligible. It is intelligible in some of its relations and modes of manifestations, but unintelligible in its essential nature.Ó3 We need to be aware that we can only ever achieve a partial understanding of what the Trinity is. As we listen to GodÕs Word, certain elements of the Trin- ity will become clear, but others will remain a mystery.

  • Premillennialism in the New Testament: Five Biblically Doctrinal Truths
MSJ 29/2 (Fall 2018) 177–205 PREMILLENNIALISM IN THE NEW TESTAMENT: FIVE BIBLICALLY DOCTRINAL TRUTHS Gregory H. Harris Professor of Bible Exposition The Master’s Seminary Many scholars hold that premillennial statements are found only in Revelation 20:1–10. Although these verses are extremely important in supporting the premillen- nial doctrine, many other verses throughout the New Testament also offer support for premillennialism. Our study limits itself to five biblically doctrinal premillennial truths from the New Testament that seamlessly blend throughout the Bible with the person and work—and reign—of Jesus the Messiah on earth after His Second Com- ing. * * * * * Introduction Whenever discussions between premillennialists and amillennialists occur, Revelation 19 and 20 is usually the section of Scripture on which many base their argumentation, especially Revelation 20:1–10. Before we examine these specific pas- sages, we know that God has already made several prophecies elsewhere. And how one interprets these passages has been determined long before by how those other related futuristic biblical texts have already been interpreted, before ever approaching certain crucial biblical passages such as Revelation 20:1–10. So, as we shall see, one should actually end the argumentation for this important component of eschatological theology in Revelation 19–20, not start there. In setting forth the New Testament case for premillennialism we will present the following: (1) a presentation of three of the five premillennial biblical truths

  • Muhammad Speaking of the Messiah: Jesus in the Hadīth Tradition
MUHAMMAD SPEAKING OF THE MESSIAH: JESUS IN THE HADĪTH TRADITION A Dissertation Submitted to the Temple University Graduate Board In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY by Fatih Harpci (May 2013) Examining Committee Members: Prof. Khalid Y. Blankinship, Advisory Chair, Department of Religion Prof. Vasiliki Limberis, Department of Religion Prof. Terry Rey, Department of Religion Prof. Zameer Hasan, External Member, TU Department of Physics © Copyright 2013 by Fatih Harpci All Rights Reserved ii ABSTRACT Much has been written about Qur’ānic references to Jesus (‘Īsā in Arabic), yet no work has been done on the structure or formal analysis of the numerous references to ‘Īsā in the Hadīth, that is, the collection of writings that report the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad. In effect, non-Muslims and Muslim scholars neglect the full range of Prophet Muhammad’s statements about Jesus that are in the Hadīth. The dissertation’s main thesis is that an examination of the Hadīths’ reports of Muhammad’s words about and attitudes toward ‘Īsā will lead to fuller understandings about Jesus-‘Īsā among Muslims and propose to non-Muslims new insights into Christian tradition about Jesus. In the latter process, non-Muslims will be encouraged to re-examine past hostile views concerning Muhammad and his words about Jesus. A minor thesis is that Western readers in particular, whether or not they are Christians, will be aided to understand Islamic beliefs about ‘Īsā, prophethood, and eschatology more fully. In the course of the dissertation, Hadīth studies will be enhanced by a full presentation of Muhammad’s words about and attitudes toward Jesus-‘Īsā.
