Rob Williams - For persistently protecting and supporting children in armed conflicts in some of the world’s most hostile regions. American-Italian actor Robert De Niro has been named winner of SAG-AFTRA's highest honor: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment. It given annually to actor who fosters "finest ideals of the acting profession." 9. Asia Society announced 2019 Asia Game Changers awards. 2019 marks first time that all of the honorees are women. Author Madhuri Vijay won JCB Prize for Literature 2019 for her debut novel ‘The Far Field’. JCB Prize for LiteratureIt is an annual Indian literary award founded in 2018. Award consists of cash prize of Rs.25 lakh (US$38400), funded by English construction manufacturing group JCB. Madhuri Vijay is also a recipient of Henfield Prize and the Pushcart Prize. 11. Croatia Footballer Luka Modric has been awarded 2019 Golden Foot award, given to players who stand out for their athletic achievements. The award is only given to active players of at least 28 years of age, and can only be won once. Out of 10 Nominees, winner is selected by an online public poll. Winner leaves a permanent mould of his footprints on "The Champions Promenade", on seafront of the Principality of Monaco. 12. Floating school project in Bangladesh won Aga Khan Architecture Award. Large part of bangladesh landscape remains submerged under water during monsoon. Razia Alam wanted to build a school for children which is spacious, modern and healthy for learning. She contacted noted architect of Bangladesh Saif Ul Haque to design the school. It is a floating school named ‘The Arcadia Education Project’, in South Kanarchor of Bangladesh. It is an amphibious school built with local material and expertise near the capital city Dhaka. It remains on ground during dry season and floats on water when the area is submerged in water during monsoon. 13. Four Indian authors are shortlisted for $25,000 DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2018. Writers are - Jayant Kaikini for No Presents Please (translated from by Tejaswini Niranjana) Manu Joseph for Miss Laila Armed And Dangerous Neel Mukherjee for A State Of Freedom Sujit Saraf for Harilal & Sons. 8th year of DSC Prize have shortlisted 88 entries for the final prize. 2 Pakistani Authors are also named - Mohsin Hamid for Exit West and Kamila Shamsie for Home Fire. 14. In a first, Government has constituted a special award titled ‘Icon of Golden Jubilee of IFFI’, which will be conferred upon Noted Actor Shri S Rajinikanth. Also, Noted French actor Isabelle Anne Madeleine Huppert will be conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Jubilee (50th) edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2019. 50th IFFI is to be held in Goa during November 20 - 28, 2019. 15. Indian Journalist Neha Dixit has been honoured with International Press Freedom Award 2019 for her groundbreaking and bold reporting. It won 2 awards in ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Director’ categories at the festival. The film is directed by Devashish Makhija. 18. Indian news channel NDTV has been awarded International Press Institute India award for excellence in journalism by India chapter of the Vienna-based International Press Institute, for its ‘expose of the conspiracy to scuttle’ the Kathua rape and murder case probe. Industrial Awards (November 2019) - US Govt. presented Award for Corporate Excellence to Pepsico India for its efforts to save more than 17 billions of litres of water through community water programs and positively impacting thousands of community members. Indian chamber of food and agriculture conferred ‘global agriculture award’ on Tamil Nadu for its excellence in agriculture sector. Indian content broadcast app JioTV has been conferred award for IPTV Innovation at World Communication Awards 2019 in London. Haryana in UK Association conferred Haryana Gaurav Award on World Championship Silver medallist and Arjuna awardee Amit Panghal and International Sports Curator Sunil Yash Kalra. Tobacco Board of India has been awarded Golden Leaf Award in Most Impressive Public Service Initiative category for 2019, for its efforts to initiate various sustainability (green) initiatives in Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco cultivation in India. It was announced at Tab Expo 2019 event in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Noted Rabindra Sangeet exponent from Bangladesh Rezwana Choudhury Bannya has been conferred ICCR distinguished alumni award in Dhaka, given away by High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das. J&K Grameen Bank ranked first from among 56 RRBs across country in terms of achievement of Rupay Card transaction targets (POS and eCOM). As per National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), It achieved 94.95% target for POS/ eCOM transactions. Uttar Pradesh Police awarded third prize in emergency response category during an international call centre event organised by the Dubai Police. Noted Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has been selected for Italian Golden Sand Art Award 2019, to be honoured during the International Scorrana Sand Nativity in Italy in November 2019. 25. Noted writer Anand has been announced winner of Ezhuthachan award 2019, highest literary award given by Kerala government. It carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a citation. 26. Noted writer from Rajasthan, Manisha Kulshreshtha has been awarded 28th Bihari Puraskar for 2018 for her novel ‘Swapnapash’. On the occasion of World Toilet Day (Nov 19), Govt conferred Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2019 awards to top ranked states / UTs and districts in various categories. President Ram Nath Kovind awarded President’s Colour to Indian Naval Academy (INA). President’s Colour is the highest honour that is bestowed upon a military unit. 2019 also marks 50th year of establishment of Naval Academy. 30. Press Council of India (PCI) announced 2019’s winners of National Awards for Excellence in Journalism. Awards will be presented on the occasion of National Press Day on 16 November. UK's Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) London conferred Honorary Fellowship of Society for 2019 to DRDO Chairman G Satheesh Reddy. Reddy is first Indian recipient of this prestigious award in over 100 years, bestowed in recognition of Reddy’s pioneering technological contributions over past three decades. It is considered as equivalent to the Nobel Prize in the aerospace domain, being awarded since 1917. 35. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of TVS Motor Company and Sundaram Clayton, has been conferred with Deming ‘Distinguished Service Award For Dissemination and Promotion Overseas’, in Tokyo (Japan). He became first Indian industrialist to be bestowed with this award, named as top award in world in Total Quality Management (TQM). 36. West Bengal-based writer Abhishek Sarkar and Bangladeshi poet Rofiquzzaman Rony were given Gemcon Young Literature Award and Gemcon Young Poetry Award at At 9th edition of Dhaka Literature festival (Bangladesh). Abhishek and Rofiquzzaman won for their manuscripts, “Nishiddho” and “Dhoashar Tamate Rong,” respectively. 37. Wheelchair-bound Hridayeshwar Singh Bhati has been selected for National Award for Empowerment of Person with Disabilities 2019 under category- Outstanding Creative Child (Male)-2019, declared by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE). He became youngest patent holder and also youngest differently-abled patent holder in world. He achieved this feat for inventing six-player circular chess at the age of nine in 2013. He also created 12 and 60 players’ circular chess and also got the patent for it. 38. Wildlife biologist K. Ullas Karanth has been awarded Wildlife Conservation Society’s George Schaller Lifetime Award in Wildlife Conservation Science. He is the first recipient of this award. Award is instituted by New York based Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), named after WCS’s Dr. George Schaller, considered to be one of the greatest wildlife scientists and conservationists globally. 39. Winners of Infosys Prize 2019 announced by Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) Engineering & Computer Sciences - Sunita Sarawagi, for her research in data mining, machine learning and natural language processing. Humanities - Manu V. Devadevan, for his original and wide-ranging work on pre-modern South India. Life Sciences - Manjula Reddy, for her groundbreaking discoveries concerning the structure of cell walls in bacteria Mathematical Sciences - Siddhartha Mishra, for his outstanding contributions to Applied Mathematics. Physical Sciences - Mugesh, for his seminal work in chemical synthesis of small molecules and nanomaterials for biomedical applications. Social Science - Anand Pandian, for his imaginative work on ethics, selfhood and the creative process. Infosys Prize is an annual award given by the Infosys Science Foundation, being conferred since 2008. Prize includes prize money of $100,000 (around 70 lakh Indian Rupees) and prize purse is given tax free. 40. World Athletics Awards 2019 (in Monaco, Europe) - Male Athlete of the year - Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya.
