Robert Bilheimer, United States - For using his skills as a filmmaker to raise awareness about modern forms of slavery. Junior Nzita Nsuami - For leading an international campaign through United Nations (UN) against use of child soldiers in war. Ajeet Singh: For his efforts in creating the first red-light area in India free of commercial sexual exploitation of children. Alezandra Russell - For helping neglected and ignored young boys in red-light districts of Thailand. Hasina Kharbhih - For rescuing and empowering over 72,000 vulnerable victims from fate of human trafficking. Rob Williams - For persistently protecting and supporting children in armed conflicts in some of the world’s most hostile regions. Priti Patkar and Prerana - For trying to abolish intergenerational prostitution. A documentary on Real Kashmir Football Club won British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) and Scotland Awards, in Glasgow, Scotland. Documentary narrates journey of former Rangers ace David Robertson as the coach of Real Kashmir FC. The film won in 'Single Documentary' category. 6. Actors Sridevi and Rekha have been conferred with Akkineni Nageswara Rao National Award for 2018 and 2019 respectively, instituted by Akkineni International Foundation to honor those who have made a lasting impact on Indian cinema. 7. American Actress Jennifer Aniston received People's Icon Award at 2019 People's Choice Awards, as 2nd recipient of the title. First winner was Melissa McCarthy. 8. American-Italian actor Robert De Niro has been named winner of SAG-AFTRA's highest honor: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment. It given annually to actor who fosters "finest ideals of the acting profession." 9. Asia Society announced 2019 Asia Game Changers awards. 2019 marks first time that all of the honorees are women. Winners are - Hoor Al Qasimi (UAE) - President of Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) Sana Mir (Pakistani Cricketer) Faiza Saeed (American Businesswoman) Chhaya Sharma - Indian IPS officer Who Led Nirbhaya Murder Case Jane Jie Sun (Chinese businesswoman) Kung Fu Nuns - For empowering young girls and dismantling gender stereotypes 10. Author Madhuri Vijay won JCB Prize for Literature 2019 for her debut novel ‘The Far Field’. JCB Prize for LiteratureIt is an annual Indian literary award founded in 2018. Award consists of cash prize of Rs.25 lakh (US$38400), funded by English construction manufacturing group JCB. Madhuri Vijay is also a recipient of Henfield Prize and the Pushcart Prize. 11. Croatia Footballer Luka Modric has been awarded 2019 Golden Foot award, given to players who stand out for their athletic achievements. The award is only given to active players of at least 28 years of age, and can only be won once. Out of 10 Nominees, winner is selected by an online public poll. Winner leaves a permanent mould of his footprints on "The Champions Promenade", on seafront of the Principality of Monaco. 12. Floating school project in Bangladesh won Aga Khan Architecture Award. Large part of bangladesh landscape remains submerged under water during monsoon. Razia Alam wanted to build a school for children which is spacious, modern and healthy for learning. She contacted noted architect of Bangladesh Saif Ul Haque to design the school. It is a floating school named ‘The Arcadia Education Project’, in South Kanarchor of Bangladesh. It is an amphibious school built with local material and expertise near the capital city Dhaka. It remains on ground during dry season and floats on water when the area is submerged in water during monsoon. 13. Four Indian authors are shortlisted for $25,000 DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2018. Writers are - Jayant Kaikini for No Presents Please (translated from Kannada by Tejaswini Niranjana) Manu Joseph for Miss Laila Armed And Dangerous Neel Mukherjee for A State Of Freedom Sujit Saraf for Harilal & Sons. 8th year of DSC Prize have shortlisted 88 entries for the final prize. 2 Pakistani Authors are also named - Mohsin Hamid for Exit West and Kamila Shamsie for Home Fire. 14. In a first, Government has constituted a special award titled ‘Icon of Golden Jubilee of IFFI’, which will be conferred upon Noted Actor Shri S Rajinikanth. Also, Noted French actor Isabelle Anne Madeleine Huppert will be conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Jubilee (50th) edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2019. 50th IFFI is to be held in Goa during November 20 - 28, 2019. 15. Indian Journalist Neha Dixit has been honoured with International Press Freedom Award 2019 for her groundbreaking and bold reporting. Indian Origin Neeraj Sharma from University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia), has won ‘Early Career Researcher of the Year (Physical Sciences)‘. It was given for his work in lithium-ion batteries found in electronic devices, electric vehicles and the grid. 17. Indian movie Bhonsle won awards at Asian Film Festival Barcelona (Spain). It won 2 awards in ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Director’ categories at the festival. The film is directed by Devashish Makhija. 18. Indian news channel NDTV has been awarded International Press Institute India award for excellence in journalism by India chapter of the Vienna-based International Press Institute, for its ‘expose of the conspiracy to scuttle’ the Kathua rape and murder case probe. Award was instituted by IPI India in 2003. 19. Industrial Awards (November 2019) - US Govt. presented Award for Corporate Excellence to Pepsico India for its efforts to save more than 17 billions of litres of water through community water programs and positively impacting thousands of community members. Singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam has been selected for the Chetana Silver Jubilee National Award. It carries cash prize of one lakh. Also, Sound Engineer Resul Pookutty won National Audio Excellence Award instituted in memory of Fr. Paul Alengattukaran, founder of Chetana Sound Studio. Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) India unit RBS India announced winners of 9th RBS Earth Heroes Awards (REHA) - Bholu Abrar Khan of Bharatpur (Rajasthan): Green Warrior Dimbeshwar Das of Assam: Green Warrior Ela Foundation (Pune): Earth Guardian Aishwarya Maheshwari (Uttar Pradesh): Save the Species Sathish (Tamil Nadu): Save the Species Jalal Ud Din Baba (Jammu & Kashmir): Inspire Pramila Bisoyi (Odisha): Lifetime Achievement Indian Industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla (Chairman of Aditya Birla Group) received UAE Government backed ABLF Global Asian Award.
